THE DANCE OF THE FATHER, SON, AND HOLY SPIRIT

Before there was a world, there was a rhythm of love. The Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit moving together in perfect joy, each delighting in the others. When the Bible opens, the Spirit of God is hovering over the waters. God says, “Let us make man in our image.” And John tells us the Word was there from the beginning, that all things were made through Him, and the Word became flesh.

That is the dance underneath everything you are about to read. Day by day, through the Old Testament, the New Testament, the Psalms, and the Proverbs, you will see the Father speaking and sending, the Son revealing and redeeming, and the Spirit opening eyes and hearts. Read Scripture first. Then let this companion help you hear the music.

Scripture calls Jesus the head of the church, the head of the body, and says that in Him all things hold together. Jesus is the spine of this journey. We must never forget it.

“Holy Spirit, open our hearts to see Christ in all of Scripture.”

APRIL INTRODUCTION

Follow Jesus All the Way

March and April belong together. March ended with Peter’s confession, and April begins at the Transfiguration. April follows Jesus as He sets His face toward Jerusalem—not as spectators standing far away, but as disciples listening, watching, remembering, and learning to trust the One who walks willingly toward the cross for us.

The Old Testament moves from Moses’ final words into Joshua and then Judges. God keeps His promises, yet neither the land, the law, nor faithful leaders can repair the deepest problem: the human heart. In Luke, Jesus welcomes sinners, seeks the lost, enters Jerusalem as King, gives the bread and cup, prays in Gethsemane, is betrayed, condemned, crucified, buried, and raised. April then opens John’s Gospel and reveals the risen Jesus as the eternal Word.

How To Use This Booklet

Read the biblical text first. Read the four summaries slowly. Use “Discover Jesus Today” to connect the day to Christ. Discuss the fellowship questions with family, friends, or a small group. Pray briefly and practice the day’s “Live Today” response.

The goal is not a perfect streak. The goal is a lifelong relationship with Jesus shaped by His Word. Keep reading. Keep looking for Jesus.

April 1 — Day 91

Listen to Him

Soli Deo Gloria - For the Glory of God Alone

Read First

Deuteronomy 18:1-20:20 • Luke 9:28-50 • Psalm 73:1-28 • Proverbs 12:10

Scripture Summary

Moses provides for the priests, warns Israel against occult practices, and promises that God will raise up a prophet like Moses.

Jesus is transfigured before Peter, John, and James. Moses and Elijah appear, but the Father identifies Jesus as His beloved Son and directs the disciples to listen to Him.

Asaph admits that he envied the apparent ease of the wicked until he entered God’s presence and saw their end. He discovers that nearness to God is his true good and that God Himself is his portion forever.

Righteousness reaches into ordinary care: a righteous person treats even animals with compassion, while cruelty reveals a wicked heart.

Discover Jesus

The promised Prophet is standing before them. Moses points forward; Jesus is the One to whom we must finally listen. As April begins and the road toward the cross sharpens, the Father turns our eyes toward His Son.

Reflect

Whose voice has the greatest influence on the way you live?

Fellowship

Ask someone: What teaching of Jesus do you most need to hear and obey right now?

Pray

Father, quiet the competing voices around me. Help me listen to Your Son and follow Him faithfully. Amen.

Live Today

Before one decision today, ask: What has Jesus already said? Then obey Him. Lord Jesus, help me not only to know Your Word but to live it. Transform my heart so that my life reflects You more each day.

Week 13 Review - The Big Story

Days 85-91 • March 26-April 1

Soli Deo Gloria - For the Glory of God Alone

Sunday Group Review - About 15 minutes

The Big Story

Judges begins with a painful cycle: forget God, turn away, suffer, cry out, receive a deliverer, and then repeat. Humanity needs more than another temporary rescuer. Luke answers with Jesus. At Passover He gives the bread and cup. In Gethsemane He submits to the Father. The innocent One is condemned. On the cross He promises paradise to a dying criminal. He dies, is buried - and rises. Then on the Emmaus road, the risen Christ opens the Scriptures and shows that they point to Him. This is the center of April and the center of our hope: Christ crucified. Christ risen. Jesus alive.

Finding Jesus This Week

• Jesus is the true Passover Lamb who gives Himself for us.
• Jesus is the faithful Son who obeys where we fail.
• Jesus saves by grace, even at the edge of death.
• Jesus is risen - and He opens the Scriptures so we can see Him.

Reflect Together

1. Which reading helped you see Jesus most clearly this week? 2. What did this week reveal about the human heart and our need for a Savior? 3. Where did you see God’s faithfulness? 4. What truth from the Psalms or Proverbs do you want to carry forward? 5. What one change will Jesus see you changing this week?

Fellowship Questions

Go around the group and complete this sentence: “This week I saw Jesus in ______.” Keep it simple. Someone else may have seen Christ in a passage you almost passed over.

Pray

Lord Jesus, thank You for meeting us in Your Word. Help us trust You, follow You, and live what we have read. Transform our hearts so our lives increasingly reflect You. Amen.

Week Preview

Keep reading the Scripture first. Keep following the story. Keep asking where you see Jesus. The road through April continues toward the cross, the empty tomb, and the risen Christ.

April 2 — Day 92

Set Your Face Toward Jesus

Soli Deo Gloria - For the Glory of God Alone

Read First

Deuteronomy 21:1-22:30 • Luke 9:51-10:12 • Psalm 74:1-23 • Proverbs 12:11

Scripture Summary

God’s law addresses unsolved bloodshed, family responsibilities, and many details of community life. Covenant faithfulness is meant to shape ordinary decisions, not merely public worship.

Luke marks a turning point as Jesus sets His face toward Jerusalem. He teaches the cost of following Him, making clear that discipleship requires wholehearted allegiance.

The psalmist laments the devastation of God’s sanctuary and asks how long enemies will mock. He appeals to God’s covenant and remembers the Creator-King.

Diligent work produces lasting provision, while chasing fantasies leaves a person empty. Wisdom honors faithful labor.

Discover Jesus

Jesus knows where Jerusalem will lead. The cross is not an accident. He walks toward it willingly. Our Savior does not turn away from the cost of rescuing us.

Reflect

What competes with wholehearted following in your life?

Fellowship

Pray with someone for a person who needs to know that God’s Kingdom has come near in Jesus.

Pray

Lord Jesus, You set Your face toward Jerusalem for us. Give me an undivided heart to follow You. Amen.

Live Today

Do the next faithful thing without delay. Keep your eyes on Jesus and follow. Lord Jesus, help me not only to know Your Word but to live it. Transform my heart so that my life reflects You more each day.

April 3 — Day 93

Go and Do Likewise

Soli Deo Gloria - For the Glory of God Alone

Read First

Deuteronomy 23:1-25:19 • Luke 10:13-37 • Psalm 75:1-10 • Proverbs 12:12-14

Scripture Summary

Deuteronomy continues with commands about holiness, vows, loans, wages, and honest weights. God’s people are to practice justice and compassion in the practical details of work, money, and relationships.

Jesus condemns unrepentant cities and then answers a question about who counts as a neighbor with the Good Samaritan. True love crosses boundaries, notices the wounded, and takes costly action when others pass by.

God is the Judge who sets the appointed time. Human pride cannot finally exalt itself; God brings one down and lifts another up.

Wicked gain cannot provide security, but the righteous are rooted and fruitful. Wise words and faithful work bring good fruit.

Discover Jesus

Jesus does more than command mercy - He embodies it. He came near to people wounded by sin and paid the cost to rescue them. At the cross, divine mercy comes all the way to us.

Reflect

Who might God be placing in your path for you to notice rather than pass by?

Fellowship

Share one practical way you can show Christ’s mercy to someone this week.

Pray

Lord Jesus, thank You for coming near to me. Give me eyes to notice people and a heart willing to show mercy. Amen.

Live Today

Notice one person today. Stop, listen, and help where you can. Lord Jesus, help me not only to know Your Word but to live it. Transform my heart so that my life reflects You more each day.

April 4 — Day 94

One Thing Is Needed

Soli Deo Gloria - For the Glory of God Alone

Read First

Deuteronomy 26:1-27:26 • Luke 10:38-11:13 • Psalm 76:1-12 • Proverbs 12:15-17

Scripture Summary

Israel is commanded to bring firstfruits, confess God’s saving faithfulness, and renew covenant commitment. At Mount Ebal and Gerizim the people are reminded that belonging to God involves both gratitude and obedient living.

Martha is distracted while Mary sits at Jesus’ feet, and Jesus says Mary has chosen what is needed. He then teaches His disciples to pray and trust the Father’s goodness.

God is majestic and greatly to be feared. He breaks the weapons of the mighty and brings human anger under His rule, calling all people to reverence Him.

A fool trusts his own judgment, while the wise receive counsel. Rash words wound, but truthful and prudent speech reflects wisdom.

Discover Jesus

The Christian life begins by receiving before doing. Mary chooses to be with Jesus. He is not another task on our list; He is the One we need. Through Him we come to the Father as beloved children.

Reflect

Has serving, worrying, or staying busy crowded out simply being with Jesus?

Fellowship

Ask someone: What helps you slow down enough to listen to Jesus?

Pray

Father, teach me to seek You first. Lord Jesus, keep my heart close to You even in a busy day. Amen.

Live Today

Give Jesus a few unhurried minutes today. Sit with His Word before rushing to the next task. Lord Jesus, help me not only to know Your Word but to live it. Transform my heart so that my life reflects You more each day.

April 5 — Day 95

Light in the Darkness

Soli Deo Gloria - For the Glory of God Alone

Read First

Deuteronomy 28:1-68 • Luke 11:14-36 • Psalm 77:1-20 • Proverbs 12:18

Scripture Summary

Moses sets before Israel the blessings of covenant obedience and the devastating curses of rebellion. The long warning makes clear that turning from God brings real consequences to every area of life.

Jesus answers accusations about His power, warns against divided loyalties, and calls people to receive God’s light. The issue is not merely seeing miracles but responding rightly to the One who stands before them.

In deep distress, the psalmist cries out and then deliberately remembers God’s mighty deeds. Recalling the exodus and God’s path through the sea steadies faith when His present way feels hidden.

Careless words can cut like a sword, but the tongue of the wise brings healing.

Discover Jesus

The long list of covenant curses reminds us that rebellion has consequences. Jesus walks toward Jerusalem to bear the curse of sin and bring us into His light. The cross shows both the seriousness of sin and the greatness of grace.

Reflect

Is there any area where you are trying to keep one foot in the light and one in darkness?

Fellowship

Talk with someone about a time God’s Word exposed something that needed to change.

Pray

Lord Jesus, shine Your light into every part of me. Lead me out of compromise and deeper into Your grace. Amen.

Live Today

Bring one hidden or compromised area into the light through confession and obedience. Lord Jesus, help me not only to know Your Word but to live it. Transform my heart so that my life reflects You more each day.

April 6 — Day 96

Choose Life

Soli Deo Gloria - For the Glory of God Alone

Read First

Deuteronomy 29:1-30:20 • Luke 11:37-12:7 • Psalm 78:1-31 • Proverbs 12:19-20

Scripture Summary

Moses renews the covenant and calls Israel to choose life by loving and obeying the Lord. God’s word is not far away; it has been brought near so His people can hear and respond.

Jesus exposes religious performance that cleans the outside while leaving the heart untouched. He warns against hypocrisy and fear of people, reminding His followers that God knows them completely and values them deeply.

The psalm retells Israel’s history so a new generation will remember God’s works. Even after deliverance and provision, the people repeatedly test God and forget His faithfulness.

Truth endures, while lies collapse quickly. Deceit fills harmful plans, but those who pursue peace find joy.

Discover Jesus

Religion can clean the outside while leaving the heart untouched. Jesus came to give us new hearts. He calls us away from performance and fear into honest, wholehearted life with God.

Reflect

Where are you tempted to look faithful on the outside without letting Jesus change the inside?

Fellowship

Ask someone you trust to pray for genuine heart transformation, not merely better appearances.

Pray

Lord Jesus, change me from the inside out. Help me choose the life that is found in loving and following You. Amen.

Live Today

Choose one act of obedience today that nobody else needs to see. Lord Jesus, help me not only to know Your Word but to live it. Transform my heart so that my life reflects You more each day.

April 7 — Day 97

Do Not Be Afraid

Soli Deo Gloria - For the Glory of God Alone

Read First

Deuteronomy 31:1-32:27 • Luke 12:8-34 • Psalm 78:32-55 • Proverbs 12:21-23

Scripture Summary

Moses prepares Israel for his departure, commissions Joshua, and gives the people a song designed to preserve memory across generations.

Jesus calls His followers to confess Him, depend on the Holy Spirit, and refuse the rule of anxiety and greed. Instead of storing up for themselves, they are to seek God’s kingdom and place their treasure where their hearts truly belong.

Israel continued to rebel even after judgment, yet God remembered their frailty and showed compassion. He rescued them from Egypt, led them like a flock, and brought them safely into the land.

The righteous are not spared every difficulty, but evil does not have the final word. Prudence knows when to speak and when not to display everything one knows.

Discover Jesus

Leaders change, generations pass, and circumstances shift, but God remains faithful. Jesus tells us to seek God’s Kingdom rather than live under the rule of fear. Our treasure is secure when our hearts belong to Him.

Reflect

What worry is taking up space that belongs to trust?

Fellowship

Tell someone one concern you are choosing to place in Jesus’ hands.

Pray

Father, thank You that You do not abandon Your people. Jesus, teach me to seek Your Kingdom instead of living in fear. Amen.

Live Today

When worry rises, answer it with Jesus’ words: “Fear not.” Then do the faithful thing in front of you. Lord Jesus, help me not only to know Your Word but to live it. Transform my heart so that my life reflects You more each day.

April 8 — Day 98

Be Ready

Soli Deo Gloria - For the Glory of God Alone

Read First

Deuteronomy 32:28-52 • Luke 12:35-59 • Psalm 78:56-64 • Proverbs 12:24

Scripture Summary

Moses’ final song exposes Israel’s foolishness and again names God as the Rock whose ways are just. Moses is permitted to see the Promised Land from afar, but he is told he will die before Israel enters it.

Jesus tells His servants to stay ready, faithful, and awake for the Master’s return. Readiness is not speculation about dates; it is steady obedience, faithful stewardship, and discernment in the present.

Israel again tested God, turned to idols, and provoked Him. Their unfaithfulness brought severe consequences and even the abandonment of Shiloh.

Diligence leads toward responsibility and influence, while laziness eventually becomes a form of bondage.

Discover Jesus

Moses’ work is ending, but God’s story continues. Jesus calls us to faithful readiness - not fearful guessing. The question is not whether we can predict the hour, but whether He will find us faithfully doing what He gave us to do.

Reflect

If Jesus returned today, what unfinished act of obedience would matter most?

Fellowship

Ask someone: What does faithful readiness look like in ordinary life?

Pray

Lord Jesus, keep me awake, faithful, and ready. Help me use today for what matters to Your Kingdom. Amen.

Live Today

Finish one act of obedience you have been postponing. Lord Jesus, help me not only to know Your Word but to live it. Transform my heart so that my life reflects You more each day.

April 9 — Day 99

The Kingdom Is Growing

Soli Deo Gloria - For the Glory of God Alone

Read First

Deuteronomy 33:1-29 • Luke 13:1-21 • Psalm 78:65-72 • Proverbs 12:25

Scripture Summary

Before his death, Moses blesses Israel tribe by tribe and ends by praising the incomparable God who rides to His people’s help. The eternal God is their refuge, and His everlasting arms are underneath them.

Jesus calls people to repentance, heals a woman on the Sabbath, and compares God’s kingdom to a mustard seed and leaven. God’s reign may begin in small ways, but its life-giving influence spreads.

After judgment, God rises to defend His people, chooses Judah, and appoints David as shepherd. David leads with integrity of heart and skillful hands.

Anxiety weighs the heart down, but a good and timely word can lift it.

Discover Jesus

God often begins His work in ways that look small. Jesus’ Kingdom begins with an overlooked teacher and a handful of disciples, yet it will reach the nations. Never despise a mustard-seed beginning when Jesus is in it.

Reflect

What small act of faithfulness might God be asking you to keep doing?

Fellowship

Encourage someone whose faithful work seems small or unnoticed.

Pray

Lord Jesus, grow Your Kingdom in me. Give me patience to trust what You can do through small acts of faith. Amen.

Live Today

Plant one mustard seed today: one prayer, one kindness, one word about Jesus, one faithful act. Lord Jesus, help me not only to know Your Word but to live it. Transform my heart so that my life reflects You more each day.

April 10 — Day 100

Be Strong and Courageous

Soli Deo Gloria - For the Glory of God Alone

Read First

Deuteronomy 34:1-12; Joshua 1:1-2:24 • Luke 13:22-14:6 • Psalm 79:1-13 • Proverbs 12:26

Scripture Summary

Moses dies, and Joshua is commissioned to lead Israel forward. God repeatedly tells Joshua to be strong and courageous, to keep His word close, and to trust His presence.

Jesus urges people to enter through the narrow door and warns against presuming on religious privilege. He laments over Jerusalem and heals on the Sabbath, showing that compassion fulfills rather than violates God’s heart.

Jerusalem lies devastated, and the psalmist pleads for forgiveness, deliverance, and the honor of God’s name. The prayer asks God to act for His people and against those who mock Him.

The righteous should choose companions carefully, because the path of the wicked can lead others astray.

Discover Jesus

Moses cannot take Israel all the way into the land. Joshua leads them forward, but even he is not the final Savior. Jesus is the greater Joshua who brings His people into God’s true rest. Rahab also reminds us that grace welcomes outsiders who trust God.

Reflect

Where do you need courage to obey God’s Word rather than merely admire it?

Fellowship

Share with someone one place where you need prayer for courage.

Pray

Lord Jesus, go before me. Give me courage rooted in Your presence and Your Word. Amen.

Live Today

Take the next step you know is right. Courage grows while walking with God. Lord Jesus, help me not only to know Your Word but to live it. Transform my heart so that my life reflects You more each day.

April 11 — Day 101

Remember What God Has Done

Soli Deo Gloria - For the Glory of God Alone

Read First

Joshua 3:1-4:24 • Luke 14:7-35 • Psalm 80:1-19 • Proverbs 12:27-28

Scripture Summary

God stops the Jordan so Israel can cross on dry ground. Twelve stones are taken from the river as a memorial so future generations will ask what God did and learn to fear Him.

Jesus teaches humility at the table, generosity toward those who cannot repay, and the serious cost of discipleship. Following Him requires placing loyalty to Christ above every competing claim.

The Shepherd of Israel is asked to restore His people and make His face shine. Israel is pictured as a vine once planted by God but now broken down, and the psalm pleads for renewed life.

Diligence matters, and the path of righteousness leads to life. Wisdom values faithful effort and refuses lazy waste.

Discover Jesus

God tells His people to remember rescue. At the center of Christian faith stands another memorial of rescue: Jesus gave His body and blood for us. Following Him is costly because His grace is priceless.

Reflect

What act of God’s faithfulness do you never want to forget?

Fellowship

Tell someone one story of God’s faithfulness that the next generation should hear.

Pray

Lord Jesus, keep me from forgetting Your grace. Give me humility and courage to follow You whatever the cost. Amen.

Live Today

Remember one rescue, provision, or answered prayer - and thank God for it aloud. Lord Jesus, help me not only to know Your Word but to live it. Transform my heart so that my life reflects You more each day.

April 12 — Day 102

The Father Runs

Soli Deo Gloria - For the Glory of God Alone

Read First

Joshua 5:1-7:15 • Luke 15:1-32 • Psalm 81:1-16 • Proverbs 13:1

Scripture Summary

Israel renews the covenant signs, celebrates Passover, and meets the commander of the Lord’s army. Jericho falls through God’s power, but Achan’s hidden sin brings defeat.

Jesus welcomes sinners and tells three stories of what was lost and then found: a sheep, a coin, and a son. Heaven rejoices when the lost are restored, and the Father’s mercy confronts both open rebellion and self-righteous resentment.

God calls His people to joyful worship and reminds them of deliverance from Egypt. He grieves that Israel would not listen and promises abundance if they would walk in His ways.

A wise child receives a parent’s correction, while a scoffer refuses rebuke.

Discover Jesus

Joshua shows that victory belongs to God, not human strength. Luke shows the heart of the God who saves: He seeks the lost and rejoices when sinners return. In Jesus, heaven has come looking for us. The Father runs toward the repentant child.

Reflect

Do you picture God as reluctant to receive you, or as the Father who runs toward the returning child?

Fellowship

Who is one person your group can pray will come home to God?

Pray

Father, thank You for seeking the lost and welcoming repentant sinners. Keep my heart humble and close to Jesus. Amen.

Live Today

Pray by name for one person who seems far from God. Lord Jesus, help me not only to know Your Word but to live it. Transform my heart so that my life reflects You more each day.

April 13 — Day 103

Faithful With What We Have

Soli Deo Gloria - For the Glory of God Alone

Read First

Joshua 7:16-9:2 • Luke 16:1-18 • Psalm 82:1-8 • Proverbs 13:2-3

Scripture Summary

Achan’s sin is exposed and judged, after which Israel defeats Ai and renews the covenant publicly. As Israel’s victories become known, surrounding kings begin preparing to resist them.

Jesus teaches that money is a stewardship revealing the heart. Faithfulness in small things matters, and no one can serve both God and money; what people prize can be detestable before God.

God stands in judgment over unjust rulers and commands them to defend the weak, fatherless, poor, and needy. The psalm ends by asking God to judge the earth rightly.

Our words bear fruit. Guarding the mouth protects life, while careless speech can bring ruin.

Discover Jesus

Hidden sin matters because God is holy. Yet our hope is not that we have managed our lives perfectly. Jesus is the faithful One who calls us into a new life of integrity, stewardship, and undivided allegiance.

Reflect

What does the way you handle money, time, or possessions reveal about what you value?

Fellowship

Ask someone: What is one simple way we can use what God has given us to bless another person?

Pray

Lord Jesus, everything I have belongs to You. Make me faithful, honest, and generous. Amen.

Live Today

Use one resource today - time, money, attention, ability - to serve someone rather than yourself. Lord Jesus, help me not only to know Your Word but to live it. Transform my heart so that my life reflects You more each day.

April 14 — Day 104

Faith That Obeys

Soli Deo Gloria - For the Glory of God Alone

Read First

Joshua 9:3-10:43 • Luke 16:19-17:10 • Psalm 83:1-18 • Proverbs 13:4

Scripture Summary

Israel’s leaders are deceived by the Gibeonites because they do not seek the Lord’s counsel. God nevertheless gives Joshua remarkable victories over the southern kings and demonstrates that the outcome rests on His power.

Jesus tells of the rich man and Lazarus, warns against causing others to stumble, commands repeated forgiveness, and teaches humble obedience. Even genuine faith does not make God our debtor; servants still depend on grace.

Enemies unite against God’s people, and the psalmist asks the Lord to overthrow their schemes. The deepest request is that the nations may know that the Lord alone is Most High.

Diligence brings satisfaction, while laziness only multiplies unsatisfied desire.

Discover Jesus

We do not need impressive faith; we need faith placed in the right Person. Jesus calls us to listen to God’s Word, forgive repeatedly, and serve without demanding applause.

Reflect

Where are you tempted to act first and seek God later?

Fellowship

Ask someone to pray with you about one decision before you make it.

Pray

Lord Jesus, teach me to seek Your wisdom, trust Your Word, forgive freely, and serve humbly. Amen.

Live Today

Before one decision today, pray first. Then obey what you already know is right. Lord Jesus, help me not only to know Your Word but to live it. Transform my heart so that my life reflects You more each day.

April 15 — Day 105

Come Back and Give Thanks

Soli Deo Gloria - For the Glory of God Alone

Read First

Joshua 11:1-12:24 • Luke 17:11-37 • Psalm 84:1-12 • Proverbs 13:5-6

Scripture Summary

Joshua’s armies defeat the northern coalition, and the book summarizes the conquered kings. Again and again the text emphasizes that God is the One giving Israel victory and fulfilling what He promised.

Ten lepers are cleansed, but only one returns to thank Jesus. Jesus then teaches that God’s kingdom is already present in their midst while also pointing to the day when the Son of Man will be revealed openly.

The psalmist longs for God’s courts and calls those blessed who dwell near Him and journey toward His presence. God is a sun and shield who withholds no good thing from those who walk uprightly.

Righteous people hate falsehood, and integrity guards those who walk honestly.

Discover Jesus

All ten receive mercy; one turns back toward Jesus. Gratitude is more than good manners - it recognizes the Giver. Psalm 84 adds the longing: better one day in God’s courts than a thousand elsewhere.

Reflect

How quickly do you move from receiving God’s gifts to forgetting the Giver?

Fellowship

Go around and name one thing for which you can thank Jesus today.

Pray

Lord Jesus, thank You for mercy I could never earn. Give me a grateful heart that keeps returning to You. Amen.

Live Today

Stop once today simply to say, “Thank You, Jesus,” and name the reason. Lord Jesus, help me not only to know Your Word but to live it. Transform my heart so that my life reflects You more each day.

April 16 — Day 106

Give Me This Mountain

Soli Deo Gloria - For the Glory of God Alone

Read First

Joshua 13:1-14:15 • Luke 18:1-17 • Psalm 85:1-13 • Proverbs 13:7-8

Scripture Summary

The land begins to be distributed among Israel’s tribes. Caleb, now eighty-five, remembers a promise made decades earlier and asks for the hill country, testifying that God has kept him and remains faithful.

Jesus teaches persistence in prayer, exposes self-righteousness through the Pharisee and tax collector, and welcomes children as models of receiving God’s kingdom. Dependence and humility, not status, mark true faith.

The psalmist asks God to restore His people and revive them again. Mercy, truth, righteousness, and peace meet in the hope of God’s renewed favor.

Appearances can deceive: some act rich while having nothing, and others appear poor while possessing much. Earthly wealth cannot provide ultimate security.

Discover Jesus

Caleb’s long faithfulness and the tax collector’s humble prayer belong together: confidence in God is not confidence in ourselves. We come like children, trusting the One who keeps His promises.

Reflect

What promise of God do you need to keep trusting even after a long wait?

Fellowship

Ask someone older in the faith: What has helped you keep trusting God through the years?

Pray

Lord Jesus, keep my faith steady, my prayers persistent, and my heart humble. Amen.

Live Today

Bring one long-standing request to God again today without giving up. Lord Jesus, help me not only to know Your Word but to live it. Transform my heart so that my life reflects You more each day.

April 17 — Day 107

What Do You Want Me to Do for You?

Soli Deo Gloria - For the Glory of God Alone

Read First

Joshua 15:1-63 • Luke 18:18-43 • Psalm 86:1-17 • Proverbs 13:9-10

Scripture Summary

Judah receives its inheritance, including the story of Caleb, Othniel, and Achsah. The chapter also notes unfinished obedience, as the Jebusites remain in Jerusalem.

A rich ruler cannot let go of the wealth that owns his heart, while a blind beggar persists in crying for mercy until Jesus stops. Jesus again predicts His death and shows that receiving the kingdom requires dependent faith.

David asks God to hear him, teach him His way, and give him an undivided heart. He rests in the Lord’s compassion, patience, steadfast love, and faithfulness.

The light of the righteous rejoices, but pride produces quarrels. Wisdom is found with those willing to receive counsel.

Discover Jesus

The ruler has much but walks away sad. The blind man has little but sees who Jesus is. Jesus is already walking toward the cross, yet He stops for one desperate person. The Savior sees faith crying from the roadside.

Reflect

What are you holding so tightly that it makes following Jesus harder?

Fellowship

Ask someone: If Jesus asked, “What do you want Me to do for you?” what would you say?

Pray

Jesus, have mercy on me. Open my eyes, loosen my grip, and help me follow You with joy. Amen.

Live Today

Name your need plainly before Jesus. Then keep following Him. Lord Jesus, help me not only to know Your Word but to live it. Transform my heart so that my life reflects You more each day.

April 18 — Day 108

Jesus Came to Seek and Save

Soli Deo Gloria - For the Glory of God Alone

Read First

Joshua 16:1-18:28 • Luke 19:1-27 • Psalm 87:1-7 • Proverbs 13:11

Scripture Summary

Ephraim, Manasseh, and the remaining tribes receive their territories. Yet several tribes do not fully drive out the inhabitants, showing again how partial obedience leaves future trouble in place.

Jesus seeks Zacchaeus, enters his home, and brings visible transformation to a man once defined by greed. The parable of the minas then calls servants to faithful stewardship until the King returns.

Zion is celebrated as a city God loves, and even former enemy nations are pictured as being counted among those born there. God’s saving purpose reaches beyond one people to the nations.

Wealth gained hastily tends to shrink, while patient, honest gathering grows over time.

Discover Jesus

Jesus states His mission clearly: the Son of Man came to seek and save the lost. Zacchaeus does not clean himself up so Jesus will come; Jesus comes, and grace begins changing Zacchaeus.

Reflect

What evidence would show that meeting Jesus is changing the way you live?

Fellowship

Share one change Christ has produced in your life that others could actually see.

Pray

Lord Jesus, thank You for seeking and saving the lost. Keep changing my heart, habits, and priorities. Amen.

Live Today

Let grace become visible today through one concrete act of honesty, generosity, or restitution. Lord Jesus, help me not only to know Your Word but to live it. Transform my heart so that my life reflects You more each day.

April 19 — Day 109

The King Enters Jerusalem

Soli Deo Gloria - For the Glory of God Alone

Read First

Joshua 19:1-20:9 • Luke 19:28-48 • Psalm 88:1-18 • Proverbs 13:12-14

Scripture Summary

The final tribal allotments are completed, and cities of refuge are established so those accused of accidental killing can receive due process and protection.

Jesus enters Jerusalem on a colt as the crowd praises God. He weeps over the city’s blindness and then cleanses the temple, asserting His authority as the true King who desires worship centered on God.

This is one of Scripture’s darkest laments. The psalmist cries from the depths, surrounded by suffering and loneliness, and continues addressing God even without an easy resolution.

Hope delayed can make the heart sick, but a fulfilled longing brings renewed life. Wise instruction is a fountain that helps people avoid deadly traps.

Discover Jesus

The promised King has arrived, but He comes humbly. He knows the city will reject Him, yet He enters anyway. The road that began earlier in Luke now reaches Jerusalem. The cross is near.

Reflect

Do you welcome Jesus as King only when His way agrees with yours?

Fellowship

Read the triumphal entry aloud with someone and ask: What kind of King is Jesus?

Pray

King Jesus, rule my heart. Clean out what does not belong and teach me to follow Your way. Amen.

Live Today

Welcome Jesus as King over one specific area you have been trying to control. Lord Jesus, help me not only to know Your Word but to live it. Transform my heart so that my life reflects You more each day.

April 20 — Day 110

Give God What Belongs to God

Soli Deo Gloria - For the Glory of God Alone

Read First

Joshua 21:1-22:20 • Luke 20:1-26 • Psalm 89:1-13 • Proverbs 13:15-16

Scripture Summary

The Levites receive their cities, and Joshua 21 declares that not one of God’s good promises failed. A misunderstanding over an altar nearly divides the tribes.

Religious leaders challenge Jesus’ authority and attempt to trap Him with a question about taxes. Jesus answers with wisdom, distinguishing what belongs to Caesar while insisting that what bears God’s image belongs ultimately to God.

The psalm begins by celebrating God’s steadfast love and His covenant with David. The Lord rules the heavens and the seas; righteousness and justice are the foundation of His throne.

Good sense wins favor, and prudent people act from knowledge rather than displaying folly.

Discover Jesus

Jesus says to give Caesar what bears Caesar’s image - and give God what belongs to God. We bear God’s image. God is not asking for a small religious corner of life; He calls for us.

Reflect

Is there any part of your life you treat as though it does not belong to God?

Fellowship

Ask someone: What helps protect unity when misunderstandings arise?

Pray

Lord Jesus, all I am belongs to You. Help me live with integrity, wisdom, and peace. Amen.

Live Today

Give God more than words today - offer Him your time, choices, and attention. Lord Jesus, help me not only to know Your Word but to live it. Transform my heart so that my life reflects You more each day.

April 21 — Day 111

Hold Fast to the Lord

Soli Deo Gloria - For the Glory of God Alone

Read First

Joshua 22:21-23:16 • Luke 20:27-47 • Psalm 89:14-37 • Proverbs 13:17-19

Scripture Summary

The eastern tribes explain that their altar was intended as a witness, not a rival place of sacrifice, and conflict is avoided through careful listening.

Jesus answers the Sadducees by affirming the resurrection and then identifies David’s greater Son. He also warns against religious leaders who love honor while exploiting the vulnerable.

God’s throne rests on righteousness and justice, and His covenant promise to David is celebrated as enduring. The psalm looks to a royal line sustained by God’s faithfulness.

A bad messenger creates trouble, while a faithful envoy brings healing. Those who accept correction gain honor, and fulfilled desire is sweet.

Discover Jesus

Joshua’s generation is passing. Jesus speaks of resurrection life that death cannot end. Our hope is not merely preserving yesterday’s victories; it is belonging to the living Christ.

Reflect

What does it mean for you to hold fast to Jesus in this season?

Fellowship

Talk about a misunderstanding that was healed because someone listened before judging.

Pray

Lord Jesus, keep me close to You. Give me humility, wisdom, and resurrection hope. Amen.

Live Today

Listen carefully before assuming the worst about someone today. Lord Jesus, help me not only to know Your Word but to live it. Transform my heart so that my life reflects You more each day.

April 22 — Day 112

Choose Whom You Will Serve

Soli Deo Gloria - For the Glory of God Alone

Read First

Joshua 24:1-33 • Luke 21:1-28 • Psalm 89:38-52 • Proverbs 13:20-23

Scripture Summary

Joshua gathers Israel, retells the story of God’s grace from Abraham through the exodus and conquest, and calls the people to choose whom they will serve.

Jesus notices a poor widow whose small offering represents costly devotion. He then prepares His disciples for coming upheaval, warning them to remain watchful and hopeful because redemption is drawing near.

The psalm laments that the Davidic king appears rejected and the covenant promises seem hidden. It ends by pleading with God to remember His servant and restore what seems broken.

Companionship shapes character: walking with the wise makes us wiser. Justice matters because even productive fields can be swept away when people are treated unjustly.

Discover Jesus

Joshua says, “As for me and my house, we will serve the LORD.” Jesus shows what wholehearted devotion looks like in a widow who gives from her poverty. Faithfulness is not measured by size but by surrender.

Reflect

What would wholehearted service to Jesus look like in your home today?

Fellowship

Complete the sentence together: “As for me and my house, we will serve the Lord by ______.”

Pray

Lord Jesus, You have been faithful through every chapter of my story. I choose again to belong to You. Amen.

Live Today

Make one household choice today that clearly reflects whom you serve. Lord Jesus, help me not only to know Your Word but to live it. Transform my heart so that my life reflects You more each day.

Week 16 Review - The Big Story

Days 106-112 • April 16-22

Amen.

April 23 — Day 113

Remember - and Stay Awake

Soli Deo Gloria - For the Glory of God Alone

Read First

Judges 1:1-2:9 • Luke 21:29-22:13 • Psalm 90:1-91:16 • Proverbs 13:24-25

Scripture Summary

Judges opens with incomplete conquest and compromised obedience. As Joshua’s generation passes, the stage is set for a people who know the land but are in danger of forgetting the God who gave it.

Jesus tells His disciples to stay alert and pray. As Passover approaches, Judas moves toward betrayal and Jesus directs the preparations for the meal in which His saving mission will be made unmistakably clear.

Psalm 90 contrasts God’s eternity with the brevity of human life and asks for wisdom to number our days. Psalm 91 celebrates the Lord as refuge and shelter for those who trust Him.

Faithful discipline is an expression of love, and the righteous learn contentment rather than living from endless appetite.

Discover Jesus

The tragedy of Judges begins when God’s people forget. Jesus tells His followers the opposite: stay awake. Remember. Pray. The Passover is approaching, and the true Lamb is preparing to give Himself.

Reflect

Where has spiritual forgetfulness made you careless?

Fellowship

Ask someone: What practice helps you remember God’s faithfulness?

Pray

Lord Jesus, keep me awake to Your presence and faithful to Your Word. Guard me from slow compromise. Amen.

Live Today

Remember one thing God has done and write it down or tell it to someone. Lord Jesus, help me not only to know Your Word but to live it. Transform my heart so that my life reflects You more each day.

April 24 — Day 114

This Is My Body Given for You

Soli Deo Gloria - For the Glory of God Alone

Read First

Judges 2:10-3:31 • Luke 22:14-34 • Psalm 92:1-93:5 • Proverbs 14:1-2

Scripture Summary

A new generation forgets the Lord, turns to idols, suffers oppression, cries out, and receives judges whom God raises to rescue them. Othniel, Ehud, and Shamgar begin the repeated cycle of rebellion and temporary deliverance.

At Passover, Jesus takes bread and the cup and interprets them around His own body and blood. He establishes the new covenant and teaches that true greatness is found in serving, even as He warns Peter of coming failure.

Psalm 92 praises God’s steadfast love and says the righteous flourish like well-rooted trees. Psalm 93 declares that the Lord reigns in majesty and that holiness marks His house.

Wisdom builds a household while folly tears it down. Upright living flows from reverence for the Lord.

Discover Jesus

Judges shows humanity’s repeated need for rescue. Temporary deliverers cannot cure the heart. At the table, Jesus reveals the rescue we truly need: the new covenant established through His self-giving sacrifice.

Reflect

When you see repeated failure in Judges, does it help you recognize your need for a deeper Savior?

Fellowship

Share Communion’s central message in one sentence: What did Jesus give for us?

Pray

Lord Jesus, thank You for giving Yourself for us. Keep me from trusting my own strength and teach me to depend on Your grace. Amen.

Live Today

Remember the cross before your next meal: Jesus gave Himself so you could live. Lord Jesus, help me not only to know Your Word but to live it. Transform my heart so that my life reflects You more each day.

April 25 — Day 115

Not My Will, but Yours

Soli Deo Gloria - For the Glory of God Alone

Read First

Judges 4:1-5:31 • Luke 22:35-53 • Psalm 94:1-23 • Proverbs 14:3-4

Scripture Summary

God delivers Israel from Canaanite oppression through Deborah, Barak, and Jael. Judges 5 answers victory with a song celebrating God’s intervention and honoring those who willingly offered themselves.

Jesus goes to the Mount of Olives, prays in agony, and submits Himself to the Father’s will. Judas then betrays Him, and Jesus is arrested even though He possesses the authority to resist.

The psalm asks the God of justice to confront arrogant oppressors. It also finds comfort in God’s discipline and confesses that the Lord is a stronghold for His people.

Proud speech can become a rod against the speaker, while wise words protect. A clean manger may look tidy, but a strong ox provides the strength for an abundant harvest.

Discover Jesus

Jesus could resist, but He does not abandon the mission. His surrender is not weakness. He willingly drinks the cup before Him. The obedience Israel repeatedly fails to give is perfectly lived by Jesus.

Reflect

Where is obedience costly for you right now?

Fellowship

Pray together: “Father, not my will, but Yours,” over one difficult situation.

Pray

Lord Jesus, thank You for obeying the Father all the way to the cross. Teach me surrendered obedience. Amen.

Live Today

In one difficult choice, replace “What do I want?” with “Father, what is faithful?” Lord Jesus, help me not only to know Your Word but to live it. Transform my heart so that my life reflects You more each day.

Jesus Stands in Our Place

Soli Deo Gloria - For the Glory of God Alone

Read First

Judges 6:1-40 • Luke 22:54-23:12 • Psalm 95:1-96:13 • Proverbs 14:5-6

Scripture Summary

Midian crushes Israel until the people cry to God. The Lord calls fearful Gideon, patiently reassures him, tears down idolatrous worship through him, and begins preparing him to deliver Israel.

Peter denies Jesus, while Jesus remains faithful under mockery, interrogation, and political maneuvering. Religious and civil authorities place the innocent Son of God on trial.

Psalm 95 calls God’s people to joyful worship and warns against hardening their hearts. Psalm 96 summons all nations to praise the Lord, whose glory and righteous judgment surpass every idol.

A truthful witness refuses deception. Wisdom can be difficult for a scoffer to find because pride blocks the teachable heart.

Discover Jesus

Gideon feels weak; Peter proves weak. Jesus alone remains faithful. The innocent One stands accused while guilty people go free. The exchange at the heart of the cross is coming into view.

Reflect

Where has failure made you more aware of your need for Jesus?

Fellowship

Encourage someone who feels disqualified by weakness to look again to Christ.

Pray

Lord Jesus, You remained faithful when others failed. Thank You for standing in the place of sinners like me. Amen.

Live Today

When weakness surfaces today, do not hide it. Bring it to Jesus and depend on His strength. Lord Jesus, help me not only to know Your Word but to live it. Transform my heart so that my life reflects You more each day.

April 27 — Day 117

Today You Will Be With Me

Soli Deo Gloria - For the Glory of God Alone

Read First

Judges 7:1-8:17 • Luke 23:13-43 • Psalm 97:1-98:9 • Proverbs 14:7-8

Scripture Summary

God deliberately reduces Gideon’s army so Israel cannot boast that its own strength won the battle. The Midianites are routed, and Gideon then deals with conflict and resistance during the pursuit.

Pilate repeatedly declares Jesus innocent, yet the crowd demands crucifixion. Jesus is nailed between criminals, and one dying man turns to Him in faith and receives the promise of paradise.

Psalm 97 rejoices that the Lord reigns and that idols are put to shame. Psalm 98 celebrates God’s salvation and calls the whole earth to rejoice before the coming Judge.

Wisdom knows when to leave foolish company and seeks to understand the path ahead rather than living by deception.

Discover Jesus

The innocent King is nailed to a cross. Yet even there Jesus saves. A dying criminal has no lifetime left to repair, perform, or prove himself. He turns to Jesus - and receives a promise of paradise. Salvation is grace.

Reflect

Are you trusting what Jesus has done, or still trying to prove that you deserve His grace?

Fellowship

Tell someone why the criminal beside Jesus gives hope to anyone who turns to Christ.

Pray

Lord Jesus, I bring You nothing to earn Your mercy. Thank You for the grace of the cross. Remember me and keep me near You. Amen.

Live Today

Receive grace - and extend it. Forgive or encourage someone who cannot repay you. Lord Jesus, help me not only to know Your Word but to live it. Transform my heart so that my life reflects You more each day.

April 28 — Day 118

He Is Risen

Soli Deo Gloria - For the Glory of God Alone

Read First

Judges 8:18-9:21 • Luke 23:44-24:12 • Psalm 99:1-9 • Proverbs 14:9-10

Scripture Summary

After victory, Gideon’s later choices introduce idolatry. Abimelech murders his brothers to seize power, while Jotham’s parable exposes the danger of selfish kingship.

Jesus dies, the temple curtain is torn, and He is buried. On the first day of the week the women find the stone rolled away and hear the announcement that He has risen.

The Lord reigns as the holy King who loves justice. The psalm remembers Moses, Aaron, and Samuel and calls God’s people to worship the One who forgives yet takes sin seriously.

Fools make light of guilt, but the upright seek goodwill. Each heart carries joys and sorrows that outsiders cannot fully know.

Discover Jesus

Human leaders rise and fall. Jesus enters death and defeats it. The angels ask, “Why seek ye the living among the dead?” The cross was not the end. Jesus is alive. Resurrection changes everything.

Reflect

Where do you need resurrection hope to become more real than fear or disappointment?

Fellowship

Complete this sentence together: “Because Jesus is risen, ______.”

Pray

Risen Jesus, thank You that death could not hold You. Fill me with resurrection hope and courage. Amen.

Live Today

Live today as someone whose Savior is alive. Let hope shape your words. Lord Jesus, help me not only to know Your Word but to live it. Transform my heart so that my life reflects You more each day.

April 29 — Day 119

Were Not Our Hearts Burning?

Soli Deo Gloria - For the Glory of God Alone

Read First

Judges 9:22-10:18 • Luke 24:13-53 • Psalm 100:1-5 • Proverbs 14:11-12

Scripture Summary

Abimelech’s violent rule collapses under God’s judgment.

The risen Jesus walks with two discouraged disciples on the road to Emmaus and explains how Moses and the Prophets point to the Messiah. He later appears to the gathered disciples, opens their minds to Scripture, and commissions them as witnesses.

All the earth is called to worship the Lord with gladness. He made us, we belong to Him, and His steadfast love and faithfulness endure through every generation.

The house of the wicked will fall, but the tent of the upright will flourish. A path can seem right to us and still end in death, so wisdom submits our judgment to God.

Discover Jesus

This is the heartbeat of our entire companion: Jesus opens the Scriptures and shows that the story points to Him. The suffering Messiah has risen. Confused hearts become burning hearts when Christ opens the Word.

Reflect

When you read Scripture, are you only collecting information - or looking for Jesus?

Fellowship

Ask someone: Where did you see Jesus in Scripture this week?

Pray

Risen Jesus, open the Scriptures to me. Set my heart on fire with truth and help me tell others what You have done. Amen.

Live Today

Read one passage again and ask one question: Where does this lead me toward Jesus? Lord Jesus, help me not only to know Your Word but to live it. Transform my heart so that my life reflects You more each day.

The Word Became Flesh

Soli Deo Gloria - For the Glory of God Alone

Read First

Judges 11:1-12:15 • John 1:1-28 • Psalm 101:1-8 • Proverbs 14:13-14

Scripture Summary

Jephthah becomes another flawed deliverer in Judges, winning a military victory but making a tragic vow.

John begins before creation itself: the Word was with God and was God, all things were made through Him, and in Him is life and light. John the Baptist appears as a witness preparing people to recognize the One who comes after him.

David commits himself to integrity in private and public life. He rejects deceit, slander, pride, and wickedness and desires a household shaped by faithfulness.

Even laughter can hide grief, and joy can end in sorrow. The backslider is filled with the fruit of his own ways, while a good person receives the fruit of faithfulness.

Discover Jesus

April has taken us to the cross and empty tomb, and now John takes us behind the beginning: Jesus is the eternal Word through whom all things were made. The One who died and rose for us is God the Son who became flesh and came near.

Reflect

Has a familiar Jesus become too small in your mind? What does John 1 restore to your vision of Him?

April Review - The Big Story

The Cross, the Empty Tomb, and the Living Word

Soli Deo Gloria - For the Glory of God Alone

The Big Story

April began with the Father’s command at the Transfiguration: listen to Jesus. From there we followed Him toward Jerusalem. Deuteronomy closed with Moses’ death. Joshua led Israel across the Jordan and into the land. God kept His promises, yet Joshua could not solve the deeper problem of the human heart. Judges immediately showed why: God’s people forgot, wandered, suffered, cried out, and needed rescue again and again. Luke showed us the greater Deliverer. Jesus sought the lost, welcomed sinners, called for wholehearted discipleship, entered Jerusalem as King, and gave His disciples the bread and cup. In Gethsemane He surrendered to the Father. The innocent Son was betrayed, denied, mocked, condemned, and crucified. Even from the cross He extended grace to a dying criminal. Then came the words that changed everything: He is risen. Death could not hold Him. On the Emmaus road, the risen Jesus opened the Scriptures and showed that Moses and the prophets had been pointing toward the suffering and risen Messiah all along. And as April closes, John takes us even deeper: the risen Jesus is the eternal Word - the One through whom all things were made, the Light shining in the darkness. Different books. Different centuries. One unfolding story. It ALL Points to Jesus. Finding Jesus This Month

• The promised Prophet - listen to Him.
• The greater Joshua - He leads His people home.
• The Shepherd who seeks the lost.
• The humble King entering Jerusalem.
• The Passover Lamb giving Himself for us.

How does the resurrection change the way you face fear, suffering, and death? 5. What one change will Jesus see you changing as you enter May?

Pray

Lord Jesus, thank You for setting Your face toward Jerusalem and giving Yourself for us. Thank You for the cross, the empty tomb, and the promise of resurrection life. Open the Scriptures to us as You did on the Emmaus road. Keep our hearts burning for You, our eyes fixed on You, and our lives surrendered to You. Amen.

May Preview

April closes with John announcing the eternal Word. May will keep us in Judges and move us deeper into John’s Gospel. We will see again that human strength cannot save us - and that Jesus is the Lamb of God, the Son of God, the giver of new birth, living water, true bread, light, life, and resurrection. Read, read some more, and keep reading until you see Jesus face-to-face.

Looking Toward May

April closes with John announcing the eternal Word. May continues in Judges and moves deeper into John’s Gospel. We will see again that human strength cannot save us, and that Jesus is the Lamb of God, the Son of God, the giver of new birth, living water, true bread, light, life, and resurrection.

ABOUT IT ALL POINTS TO JESUS

After reading the Bible every day together, a husband and wife felt a simple vision: help people read the same daily portions of Scripture—Old Testament, New Testament, Psalm, and Proverbs—while seeing how the whole story points to Jesus.

These monthly volumes are companions for that journey. Read the Word first in your own Bible; then let the summaries, reflections, and questions help you see Christ on every page.

They are written for groups gathering around a table and just as much for the person reading alone. If you are by yourself today, you still have a friend in Jesus.

HELP NEXT YEAR’S EDITION

This booklet was written for groups like yours: Sunday classes, Bible studies, circles of friends before prayer. You know things we don’t — what opened hearts in your room, what confused people, what you’d change. Write to [email protected] with ‘Booklet ideas’ in the subject line, and tell us. Every fall, the best suggestions from teachers and leaders go into the next edition. Its readers will be learning from you. Thank you — and may every page point your group to Jesus.
