Day 157 · June 6
A devotional for today
Today’s readings
- Old Testament: 1 KINGS 1:1-53
- New Testament: ACTS 4:1-37
- Psalm: PSALM 124:1-8
- Proverb: PROVERBS 16:24
Old Testament
David grows old and the struggle for the throne begins. Adonijah exalts himself, but God’s promised line continues through Solomon, who is publicly anointed king.
New Testament
Peter and John boldly testify that salvation is found in Jesus. Threats cannot silence them, and the church prays for courage rather than comfort.
Psalm
Deliverance comes from the LORD; without Him, the flood would have swept us away.
Proverb
Gracious words can bring healing like honey.
Discover
Solomon’s anointing points beyond itself to Jesus, God’s chosen King. Acts declares that there is no other name by which we must be saved.
Reflect
What pressure most tempts me to become quiet about Jesus?
Fellowship
Share one place in today’s reading where you saw Jesus more clearly. Then discuss the reflection question together.
Prayer
Lord Jesus, keep my eyes on You and shape my life by Your Word. Holy Spirit, give me grace to trust, obey, and follow You today. Amen.
Live
Speak the name of Jesus with kindness and courage. Lord Jesus, help me not only to know Your Word but to live it. Transform my heart so that my life reflects You more each day.
