Day 181 · June 30
A devotional for today
Today’s readings
- Old Testament: 2 KINGS 17:1-18:12
- New Testament: ACTS 20:1-38
- Psalm: PSALM 148:1-14
- Proverb: PROVERBS 18:6-7
Old Testament
Israel finally falls to Assyria after generations of rejecting God. Hezekiah, however, trusts the LORD and removes idols - a bright contrast in a dark chapter.
New Testament
Paul encourages believers and gives the Ephesian elders a moving farewell. He has served humbly and wants to finish the work the Lord Jesus gave him.
Psalm
All creation is summoned to praise the LORD - from heavens and angels to kings and ordinary people.
Proverb
Foolish lips invite conflict. Let Christ govern both our speech and our motives.
Discover
Israel’s collapse shows the end of persistent rebellion. Paul’s farewell shows another road: humble service, repentance, faith, and finishing the race with Jesus.
Reflect
What would finishing faithfully look like in the season God has given me?
Fellowship
Share one place in today’s reading where you saw Jesus more clearly. Then discuss the reflection question together.
Go around the group and complete this sentence: “This week I saw Jesus in ______.” Keep it simple and give everyone room to answer.
Prayer
Lord Jesus, keep my eyes on You and shape my life by Your Word. Holy Spirit, give me grace to trust, obey, and follow You today. Amen.
Live
Do one task today as someone determined to finish faithfully. Lord Jesus, help me not only to know Your Word but to live it. Transform my heart so that my life reflects You more each day.
