Day 266 · September 23
A devotional for today
Today’s readings
- Old Testament: ISAIAH 41:17-43:13
- New Testament: EPHESIANS 2:1-22
- Psalm: PSALM 67:1-7
- Proverb: PROVERBS 23:29-35
Old Testament
God promises water for the thirsty and introduces His chosen Servant, who brings justice gently. He tells His people, 'Fear not,' because He created, redeemed, and calls them His own.
New Testament
Paul moves from death to life: saved by grace through faith, created for good works, and reconciled into one new people through Christ.
Psalm
The psalm asks God to bless His people so His saving way will be known among all nations.
Proverb
Alcohol can deceive, wound, and enslave; wisdom refuses to romanticize what destroys.
Discover
Isaiah's Servant brings justice to the nations, and Ephesians identifies our rescue: Jesus makes dead sinners alive and brings outsiders near by His blood. Grace creates a new people.
Reflect
Do I live as though salvation is a gift or an achievement?
Fellowship
Where does the gospel tear down walls that people like to rebuild?
Go around the group and complete this sentence: “This week I saw Jesus in ______.” Keep it simple and give everyone room to answer.
Prayer
Jesus, thank You for making me alive by grace and bringing me near. Use my life for the good works You prepared. Amen.
Live
Do one good work today as a response to grace, not an attempt to earn it.
