Day 269 · September 26
A devotional for today
Today’s readings
- Old Testament: ISAIAH 48:12-50:11
- New Testament: EPHESIANS 4:17-32
- Psalm: PSALM 69:1-18
- Proverb: PROVERBS 24:5-6
Old Testament
God calls His people out of Babylon and introduces the Servant whose mission reaches the nations. The Servant listens, obeys, suffers, and does not turn back.
New Testament
Paul tells believers to put off the old life and put on the new: truth instead of falsehood, useful work instead of theft, grace-filled speech instead of corruption, forgiveness instead of bitterness.
Psalm
The psalmist cries from deep waters and asks God to answer with faithful love.
Proverb
Wisdom gives strength, and wise counsel matters in difficult decisions.
Discover
Isaiah's obedient Servant points toward Jesus, who set His face toward suffering and did not turn back. Because He gave Himself for us, our speech, work, anger, and forgiveness can begin to look like Him.
Reflect
What old pattern needs to be put off today?
Fellowship
Which is harder: speaking truth, controlling anger, or forgiving? Why?
Prayer
Lord Jesus, replace my old ways with Your character. Make my words gracious and my heart forgiving. Amen.
Live
Remove one destructive habit and replace it with one Christlike action.
