It All Points to Jesus

Day 3 · January 3

A devotional for today

Today’s readings

Old Testament

Genesis traces the spread of corruption from Adam to Noah until the earth is filled with violence. God judges the world by the flood, preserves Noah in the ark, and shows both his holiness against sin and his mercy toward those he saves.

New Testament

John warns the religious proud to bear fruit in keeping with repentance, and Jesus triumphs over Satan’s temptations in the wilderness. The obedient Son stands where Israel and Adam failed.

Psalm

David cries to the Lord from distress and finds rest because God sustains him. Trust allows him to sleep even while enemies surround him.

Proverb

Wisdom warns against joining sinners in greedy schemes. A quick profit can become a trap that takes life rather than gives it.

Discover

Jesus is the faithful Son who overcomes the tempter and becomes the ark of safety for sinners under judgment. In him, God provides rescue through obedience and grace.

Reflect

God is patient, but he is never indifferent to evil. Today’s readings invite you to turn from compromise and to trust the One who conquered temptation on your behalf. Fellowship
