It All Points to Jesus

Day 33 · February 2

A devotional for today

Today’s readings

Old Testament

Israel complains in the wilderness, yet God remains faithful. He makes bitter water sweet, sends manna and quail, and provides water from the rock. God teaches His people to depend upon Him one day at a time.

New Testament

Jesus tells the parable of the wedding banquet and answers challenges about taxes and the resurrection. He exposes traps and false assumptions while pointing people back to God's truth and authority.

Psalm

David declares that the Lord is his light, salvation, and stronghold. His greatest desire is to dwell in God's presence and behold His beauty.

Proverb Summary A parent's wise instruction protects like a guiding light. God's wisdom guards His children from temptation and calls them to purity and faithfulness. Discover Jesus The manna pointed to Jesus, the Bread of Life, and the water from the rock points us toward the One who gives living water. Jesus is God's gracious invitation to the kingdom and the Savior who supplies what our souls truly need. Everything in today's reading points to Jesus. Reflect Where has God faithfully provided for you, even when you were tempted to worry? How can you trust Jesus more fully with today's needs? Fellowship Talk about a time when God provided exactly what you needed. Encourage one another to trust His daily faithfulness.

Prayer

Father, thank You for faithfully providing for Your people. Forgive me when I complain instead of trusting You. Thank You for Jesus, the Bread of Life and Living Water. Help me trust You one day at a time. In Jesus' name, Amen.
