It All Points to Jesus

Day 72 · March 13

A devotional for today

Today’s readings

Discover

Numbers begins with cleansing from the contamination of death. Then water comes from a rock. Luke announces that God's long-awaited rescue is beginning. We need cleansing that ceremonies alone cannot provide. We need living water that satisfies more than physical thirst. We need someone greater than Moses and a Priest who does not pass away. We need Jesus. Moses failed. Aaron died. But God's plan did not fail. The Savior was coming. God keeps His promises.

Reflect

Zechariah had prayed and waited so long that God's answer became difficult for him to believe. Have I ever prayed for something so long that I began to wonder whether God was listening? Psalm 56 gives us a simple response: “What time I am afraid, I will trust in thee.” Where do I need to trust God today?

Fellowship

Talk with someone about this: How can we continue trusting God when His answer seems slow in coming?

Prayer

Father, help me trust You when I am afraid and when Your timing is different from mine. Thank You for keeping Your promises and for sending Jesus, our Savior. Lord Jesus, help me not only to know Your Word but to live it. Transform my heart so that my life reflects You more each day. Amen.

Live

When fear or waiting begins to wear you down, remember: God has not forgotten you. Trust Him with today and keep walking with Jesus.
