A devotional for today
Today’s readings
- Old Testament: NUMBERS 22:21-23:30

- Psalm: PSALM 58:1-11
- Proverb: PROVERBS 11:12-13
Discover
Balak tries repeatedly to stop God's blessing. He cannot. Why? Because God's plan cannot be overturned. For generations God had promised a Savior. Kings could not stop Him. Enemies could not stop Him. Human failure could not stop Him. Zechariah announces that God's promised rescue is arriving. Jesus is the Dayspring from on high - the light breaking into a dark world. Week 10 took us through the Last Supper, Gethsemane, the cross, the empty tomb, and back to the beginning: God planned this rescue all along.
Reflect
Balaam could not see what God could see. How often do I judge my circumstances only by what is directly in front of me? Can I trust God when I cannot see what He is doing? Zechariah reminds us that light has come. Where do I need the light of Jesus today?
Fellowship
Talk with someone about this: How does knowing that God's plans cannot be stopped help us trust Him when life seems uncertain?
Share one place where you have been tempted to focus on the “giants” rather than God. Then encourage one another with something Week 10 repeatedly taught us: God is faithful even when we struggle to trust Him.
Prayer
Father, thank You that Your promises are trustworthy and Your plans cannot be defeated. When I cannot see what You are doing, help me trust You and walk in the light of Jesus. Lord Jesus, help me not only to know Your Word but to live it. Transform my heart so that my life reflects You more each day. Amen.
Father, thank You for keeping Your promises and sending Jesus. Guard my heart from compromise and help me follow You faithfully. Lord Jesus, help me not only to know Your Word but to live it. Transform my heart so that my life reflects You more each day. Amen.
Father, thank You that Your faithfulness continues from generation to generation. Teach me to trust Your timing and remain faithful in ordinary moments. Lord Jesus, help me not only to know Your Word but to live it. Transform my heart so that my life reflects You more each day. Amen.
Father, thank You for sending Your beloved Son. Lead me to Jesus, my Rock and Shepherd. Help repentance become real change in my life. Lord Jesus, help me not only to know Your Word but to live it. Transform my heart so that my life reflects You more each day. Amen.
Father, thank You for Your faithfulness through every generation and for Jesus, our Passover Lamb, Rock, and salvation. Lord Jesus, help me not only to know Your Word but to live it. Transform my heart so that my life reflects You more each day. Amen.
Father, give me a heart that thirsts for You. Fill me with Your Word so I can recognize temptation and remain faithful. Lord Jesus, help me not only to know Your Word but to live it. Transform my heart so that my life reflects You more each day. Amen.
Father, thank You for Your faithfulness through every generation. Thank You for the promises, sacrifices, prophets, and stories that continually lead us toward Your Son. Thank You for Jesus - the Savior, the Lamb, the Shepherd, the faithful Son, and our Rock. Help us not simply learn more about Him. Help us trust Him, follow Him, and become more like Him. Lord Jesus, help us not only to know Your Word but to live it. Transform our hearts so that our lives reflect You more each day. Amen. Week 12 Preview Next week the journey continues through Numbers and Luke. Israel continues preparing for the Promised Land while Jesus begins His public ministry. We will watch Jesus teach with authority, heal the sick, call disciples, forgive sins, confront religious assumptions, and reveal more clearly who He is. Read the Scripture first. Ask the Holy Spirit for understanding. Look carefully. Find Jesus. Then live what you have read. Week 11 Complete - Seven days of Scripture. One unfolding story. One Savior. Jesus.
Live
You do not have to see the whole road ahead. God does. Trust His Word, walk in the light He gives you today, and keep your eyes on Jesus.
Follow the Star to the Savior. Numbers promised a Star. Luke announces the Savior. Keep your attention where Scripture is pointing: Jesus. Soli Deo Gloria - For the Glory of God Alone
Be faithful with what is in front of you. Trust God's timing. Do today's work. Walk with Jesus. Quiet faithfulness matters. Soli Deo Gloria - For the Glory of God Alone
Choose one small change today that Jesus can see: one kindness, one temptation resisted, one person forgiven, one opportunity to serve. Follow the Shepherd one step at a time. Soli Deo Gloria - For the Glory of God Alone
Remember - and trust. Remember one way God has been faithful. Carry that memory into today. Stand on the Rock. Trust Jesus. Soli Deo Gloria - For the Glory of God Alone
Carry one verse with you: “My soul thirsteth for thee.” - Psalm 63:1 Nothing this world offers can replace Jesus.
