Genesis 24:52–26:16 · Matthew 8:18–8:34 · Psalm 10:1–10:15 · Proverbs 3:7–3:8
Today’s story
Rebekah enters Isaac’s life, Abraham dies, and the narrative turns toward Isaac amid conflict over wells and territory. God’s promise continues through ordinary family transitions and tensions.
Jesus calls disciples to costly allegiance, stills a storm, and delivers two demonoppressed men. His authority extends over nature, darkness, and every claim that competes with his lordship.
Psalm 10 asks why God seems distant while the wicked prey on the vulnerable. Even in unresolved pain, the psalm keeps moving toward trust that God sees.
Fearing the Lord and turning from evil bring life and healing. Wisdom is never detached from reverence and repentance.
The story in children’s words
Rebekah traveled with the servant, met Isaac, and became his wife, and Isaac loved her. Abraham died at a good old age, and Isaac and Ishmael buried him beside Sarah. Isaac prayed for Rebekah, and she had twin boys, Esau and Jacob. Esau was a hunter, and one day he traded his special firstborn gift to Jacob for a bowl of stew. God promised Isaac the same blessing He gave Abraham, that all nations would be blessed through his family. Jesus calmed a great storm on the sea with just His words, and even the wind obeyed Him. Jesus is stronger than every storm, and He is the blessing God promised to the whole world.
It points to Jesus
Jesus is Lord over wind, waves, and demons, proving that no chaos is beyond his command. The One who sleeps in the boat is also the sovereign ruler over the storm.
