Day 125 · May 5
Kids Corner — Day 125
Judges 21:1–25 · Ruth 1:1–22 · John 4:4–42 · Psalm 105:1–15 · Proverbs 14:25
Today’s story
Judges closes in moral chaos, but Ruth begins with one woman's costly loyalty to Naomi and a return to Bethlehem.
Jesus crosses social barriers to meet a Samaritan woman. He exposes her thirst and offers living water, then reveals Himself as Messiah.
Remember God's covenant faithfulness and tell others what He has done.
A truthful witness can save lives; falsehood destroys.
The story in children’s words
After the fighting, Israel was sorry that the tribe of Benjamin was almost gone, and they found a way for the tribe to go on and rebuild its cities. Still, everyone did what was right in his own eyes, because there was no king in Israel. Then, in the days of the judges, there was a famine, and a woman named Naomi went to Moab with her husband and two sons. Her husband and both sons died there, and Naomi decided to go back home to Bethlehem. One daughter-in-law, Orpah, went back to her own people, but Ruth stayed with Naomi. Ruth said, "Where you go, I will go. Your people will be my people, and your God my God." So the two women came to Bethlehem together at barley harvest time. In Jesus' day, Jesus spoke with a Samaritan woman at a well and told her about living water that He gives. She believed He was the Christ, and many people in her city believed too. Jesus is the living water, and He welcomes everyone who comes to Him, just as Ruth was welcomed into God's people.
It points to Jesus
Ruth moves toward Bethlehem in faithful love; the Samaritan woman meets the One who can satisfy the deepest thirst of every heart.
Talk about it
Ask someone: 'Where are you thirsty for God right now?' Listen without fixing.
