Day 126 · May 6
Kids Corner — Day 126
Ruth 2:1–4:22 · John 4:43–54 · Psalm 105:16–36 · Proverbs 14:26–27
Today’s story
Ruth's faithfulness meets Boaz's kindness. The story ends with redemption, marriage, and a child in the family line that will lead to David.
Jesus heals an official's son at a distance. The man believes Jesus' word and goes home in faith.
Joseph's suffering became part of God's larger rescue plan; God was working before anyone could see the outcome.
The fear of the LORD gives strong confidence and becomes a fountain of life.
The story in children’s words
Ruth went out to gather leftover grain in the fields, and she came to the field of Boaz, a kind and wealthy relative of Naomi's family. Boaz had heard how Ruth had cared for Naomi, and he let her gather freely, shared his meal with her, and kept her safe. Naomi knew Boaz could act as the family redeemer, so Ruth went to him humbly and asked for his covering. Boaz did everything fairly before the elders at the city gate, and he married Ruth. God gave them a son named Obed, and Naomi's empty arms were filled again. Obed became the grandfather of King David. In Jesus' day, a royal official begged Jesus to heal his dying son. Jesus simply said, "Go your way. Your son lives," and the man believed His word and found his son well. Jesus' word is full of life, and Ruth's family line leads right to Him.
It points to Jesus
Boaz is a kinsman-redeemer, but Jesus is the greater Redeemer who brings outsiders into God's family and asks us to trust His word.
Talk about it
