Day 161 · June 8
Kids Corner — Day 161
1 Kings 7:1–51 · Acts 7:30–50 · Psalm 128:1–6 · Proverbs 16:31–33
Today’s story
The Temple furnishings are completed with beauty and skill. Human hands can build a house for worship, but no building can contain the living God.
Stephen reminds his hearers that Moses met God outside the promised land and that the Most High cannot be contained by temples made with hands.
God’s blessing is pictured in a life ordered around reverence for Him.
Gray hair can be a crown of honor; finishing faithfully matters.
The story in children’s words
Solomon also built his own palace, and it took thirteen years. A skilled worker named Hiram made wonderful things of bronze for God's house: two tall pillars named Jachin and Boaz, a huge round sea standing on twelve bronze oxen, and ten stands with basins. Solomon made so many gold and bronze dishes and tools for the temple that they could not all be weighed. Stephen went on with Israel's story. He told how God called Moses from the burning bush and sent him to lead His people out of Egypt. Moses told the people that God would one day raise up a prophet like him, and they must listen to Him. But the people turned away and worshiped a golden calf instead. Stephen said David wanted to build God a house, and Solomon did build it, but the Most High does not live in houses made by human hands, for heaven is His throne and the earth is His footstool. That promised prophet like Moses is Jesus, and God now lives with His people through Him.
It points to Jesus
Stephen makes the point plainly: God is bigger than our buildings. Jesus brings God’s presence near and forms His people into a living temple.
Talk about it
Share one place in today’s reading where you saw Jesus more clearly. Then discuss the reflection question together.
