Kids Corner — Day 25
Genesis 50:1–50:26 · Exodus 1:1–2:10 · Matthew 16:13–17:9 · Psalm 21:1–21:13 · Proverbs 5:1–5:6
Today’s story
Jacob is buried, Joseph forgives his fearful brothers, and Genesis closes with hope that God will surely come to his people. Then Exodus opens under oppression as a deliverer is preserved through the courage of unexpected women and the providence of God.
Peter confesses Jesus as the Messiah, Jesus foretells his death, and the Transfiguration reveals his glory. The way of the Christ leads through the cross before the crown.
Psalm 21 rejoices in the king’s strength, salvation, and God-given victory. Blessing and power belong to the one the Lord upholds.
The fatherly warning against sexual folly begins with an appeal to attentive listening. Wisdom is protective before temptation becomes destructive.
The story in children’s words
Joseph buried his father in Canaan, just as he had promised. His brothers were afraid he would pay them back, but Joseph said, "You meant evil against me, but God meant it for good, to save many lives." Later, a new king in Egypt made God's people slaves and tried to kill their baby boys. But a mother hid her baby in a basket on the river, and Pharaoh's own daughter found him, felt sorry for him, and raised him as her son. She named him Moses. Peter said to Jesus, "You are the Christ, the Son of the living God." Then Jesus shone bright as the sun on a mountain, and God's voice said, "This is my beloved Son. Listen to him." Jesus is God's own Son, the promised Christ.
It points to Jesus
Jesus is the confessed Messiah, the glorious Son on the mountain, and the greater deliverer toward whom both Joseph and Moses point. He saves not merely from famine or Pharaoh but from sin and death.
Talk about it
