Today’s story

Isaiah reaches the suffering Servant: despised, rejected, wounded for our transgressions, bearing the sin of many, yet ultimately vindicated by God.

Paul calls believers to imitate God, walk in love and light, live wisely, be filled with the Spirit, and let marriage reflect Christ's faithful love for His church.

The suffering worshiper is mocked and afflicted yet continues to praise God and trust His salvation.

Wisdom is beyond the fool who refuses to receive it.

The story in children’s words

God promised comfort to His people who were sad and afraid. He said His salvation would last forever, even after the sky and the earth wear out. Messengers would run over the mountains with good news: "Your God reigns!" Then Isaiah told about God's Servant who would suffer for us. He was hated and hurt, and He carried our sorrows in our place. He was wounded for our wrongs and beaten for our sins, like a quiet lamb led away, and by His wounds we are healed. God laid on Him the sins of us all. Paul wrote, "Walk in love, as Christ loved us and gave Himself up for us." The suffering Servant Isaiah saw is Jesus, and His love makes us children of the light.

It points to Jesus

Here September stands at the foot of the cross. Isaiah's Servant bears what belongs to us. Jesus loves His church and gives Himself for her. Our salvation rests on His sacrifice, not ours.

Talk about it

How should Christ's self-giving love reshape our homes and relationships?
