The story in children’s words
In the night, Daniel had a dream, and he saw four great beasts come up out of the stormy sea. The first was like a lion with eagle's wings, the second like a bear, the third like a fast leopard with four wings and four heads, and the fourth was terrifying, with iron teeth and ten horns, stamping and crushing everything. Then Daniel saw thrones set up, and the Ancient of Days took His seat. His clothes were white as snow, His hair like pure wool, His throne ablaze with fire, and thousands upon thousands stood before Him as the books were opened. Then, wonder of wonders, Daniel saw "one like a son of man" coming with the clouds of heaven. He came to the Ancient of Days, and He was given power, glory, and a kingdom, so that people of every nation and language should serve Him. His kingdom is an everlasting kingdom that will never pass away and can never be destroyed. The beasts stood for earthly kingdoms that rise and fall, but God's holy people will receive the kingdom forever and ever. John begins his letter by saying he and his friends had heard, seen, and touched the Word of life — Jesus Himself, who was with the Father and was shown to us. God is light, and in Him there is no darkness at all. If we walk in the light and confess our sins, God is faithful to forgive us, and the blood of Jesus cleanses us from all sin. The Son of Man Daniel saw in the night is Jesus, and His forever kingdom is filled with light.
It points to Jesus
Daniel's Son of Man receives everlasting dominion; Jesus takes that title upon Himself. John's message of light shows how citizens of His Kingdom live now.
