Kids Corner — Day 333
Daniel 6:1–28 · 2 Peter 3:1–18 · Psalm 119:129–152 · Proverbs 28:21–22
Today’s story
Daniel remains faithful in prayer despite the law against it. God shuts the lions' mouths and preserves His servant.
The apparent delay of Christ's return is patience, giving people time to repent. Believers should live holy, expectant lives.
God's Word gives light and keeps us steady under pressure.
Favoritism corrupts judgment.
The story in children’s words
King Darius set Daniel over his whole kingdom, because Daniel was faithful and an excellent spirit was in him. The other leaders were jealous and searched for something wrong in Daniel, but they could find nothing — so they tricked the king into making a law: "For thirty days, pray only to the king, or be thrown to the lions!" Daniel went home, opened his windows toward Jerusalem, and knelt and prayed three times a day, just as he always had. The king was very sorry and tried all day to save Daniel, but the law could not be changed. Daniel was thrown into the lions' den, and a stone was sealed over the top. The king could not sleep or eat all night. At dawn he hurried to the den and cried out, "Daniel, was your God able to save you?" Daniel answered, "My God sent His angel and shut the lions' mouths!" Daniel came out without a single scratch, because he had trusted in his God. Then King Darius wrote to all nations that everyone should tremble before Daniel's God, whose kingdom will never be destroyed. Peter reminds us that God is patient, not slow — He waits because He does not want anyone to perish, but wants all to turn to Him. One day Jesus will come, and God will make new heavens and a new earth where righteousness lives. So let us grow in the grace and knowledge of Jesus while we wait.
It points to Jesus
