Today’s story

Zechariah learns that God’s work is accomplished not by human might or power but by His Spirit. God also exposes and removes wickedness.

John sees the Lamb with His people and hears the call to endure faithfully as judgment approaches and the earth’s harvest ripens.

David pours out his complaint when no human refuge seems available and confesses that God Himself is his refuge. Proverb Summary Disordered power can become unbearable when people receive position without wisdom or humility. Discover Jesus Jesus is the Lamb who stands secure with His redeemed people. His kingdom advances by the Spirit, not by our strength. Reflect Where am I relying on my own strength instead of the Holy Spirit? Fellowship Name one burden you need to stop carrying alone and bring it to God together.

The story in children’s words

Zechariah saw a lamp stand made all of gold, fed with oil by two olive trees. God told Zerubbabel, who was rebuilding God's house, "Not by strength, nor by power, but by my Spirit." The hands that started the work would finish it, and no one should laugh at the day of small things. Then Zechariah saw a huge flying scroll that carried God's curse on stealing and lying, and a basket that carried wickedness away. Then John saw the Lamb standing on Mount Zion with His people, singing a new song. Angels flew through the sky calling everyone to fear God and worship the One who made heaven and earth, and warning that proud Babylon had fallen. At the end came a great harvest of the earth. Jesus the Lamb stands with His own people, and God's Spirit, not our strength, does His work.
