Today’s story

Malachi closes the Old Testament looking toward the Lord’s coming, a messenger who prepares the way, refining judgment, and the sun of righteousness rising with healing.

The Bible ends with the river of life, the tree of life, the removal of the curse, God’s servants seeing His face, and Jesus

promising that He is coming soon.

The Psalter finishes exactly where it should: everything that has breath praising the Lord. Proverb Summary The year closes with strength, dignity, wisdom, faithful work, and the lasting beauty of fearing the Lord. Discover Jesus Genesis began with creation, life, a garden, and fellowship with God. Revelation ends with creation renewed, the tree and river of life restored, the curse removed, and God’s people seeing His face. At the center stands Jesus - the Lamb, the King, the Alpha and Omega. Reflect After 365 days, what has changed in the way I see Jesus? Fellowship Complete this sentence together: “This year I saw Jesus…” Then thank God for what He revealed.

The story in children’s words

God promised through Malachi, "I will send my messenger, and he will get the way ready before me." The Lord would come to His temple like a fire that makes silver clean and pure. God told His people, "Come back to me, and I will come back to you." For those who honor His name, the sun of righteousness would rise with healing in its wings, and their names were written in His book of memory. Before the great day, God would send Elijah to turn the hearts of fathers and children back to each other. Then John saw the end of the whole Bible story: a river of the water of life, clear as crystal, flowing from the throne of God and of the Lamb. On both sides of the river stood the tree of life, with fruit every month and leaves for the healing of the nations. There will be no more curse and no more night, for the Lord God will be their light, and His people will see His face and reign forever. Jesus says, "Yes, I am coming soon!" And His people answer, "Amen! Come, Lord Jesus!" Whoever is thirsty may come and take the water of life freely. It all points to Jesus.
