Today’s story

God gives Moses detailed instructions for Aaron's high-priestly garments. Their beauty and holiness reflect the dignity of serving before the Lord. Aaron bears the names of Israel's tribes on his shoulders and over his heart, representing the people before God.

Jesus describes the final judgment, separating the nations as a shepherd separates sheep and goats. Lives transformed by Him show compassion and mercy. Jesus then announces that His crucifixion is near. While leaders plot His death, He willingly continues toward the cross and the Father's plan of salvation.

David cries to the Lord in suffering and places his life in God's hands. God's unfailing love is his refuge, and he encourages all who trust the Lord to be strong and courageous. Proverb Summary Wisdom offers sound judgment, understanding, righteousness, and discernment - treasures far greater than earthly wealth. Discover Jesus Aaron served as Israel's high priest, but he pointed forward to Jesus Christ, our perfect and eternal High Priest. Unlike Aaron, Jesus never sinned. He offered Himself as the perfect sacrifice once for all and opened the way into the Father's presence forever. Jesus is also the righteous Judge and coming King. Everything in today's reading points to Jesus. Reflect How does knowing Jesus is your eternal High Priest strengthen your confidence in approaching God? How can you demonstrate Christ's love and compassion to someone this week? Fellowship Discuss how Jesus as our High Priest and coming King gives us confidence, hope, and purpose. Encourage one another to serve others with humility.

The story in children’s words

God chose Aaron and his sons to be priests who would serve in His tent. They wore beautiful clothes of gold, blue, purple, and red. On Aaron's chest was a special piece with twelve shining stones, one for each of the twelve families of Israel. Aaron carried the names of God's people on his heart whenever he went before God. Then Jesus told how He will come back as King and gather everyone before Him. He said that helping hungry, thirsty, and lonely people is like helping Him. A woman lovingly poured costly sweet oil on Jesus' head, and Jesus said her kind act would be remembered. Jesus is our great Priest, who carries His people on His heart forever.
