The story in children’s words

God gave rules about a skin sickness called leprosy. If a spot appeared on someone's skin, the priest looked at it very carefully. Sometimes the person had to wait alone for seven days, and then the priest looked again. If the spot was fading, the priest said the person was clean. If the sickness spread, the person had to live apart from others so the sickness would not spread. Priests even checked clothes and cloth for sickness spots. God cared for His people and wanted them healthy and safe. Jesus went back to His hometown, but the people there would not believe in Him, and He was amazed at their unbelief. Jesus sent out His twelve helpers two by two to heal and to teach. King Herod had John's head cut off because of a promise he made at a party, and that was very sad. Even when people are unkind, Jesus keeps working to save and to heal.

It points to Jesus

Jesus knows rejection and continues faithfully toward the cross. He enters a world marked by uncleanness, unbelief, and death to bring cleansing, truth, and eternal hope.

Talk about it

Ask one another: Where is Jesus calling us to remain faithful even when it is difficult?
