Kids Corner — Day 7
Genesis 16:1–18:15 · Matthew 6:1–6:24 · Psalm 7:1–7:17 · Proverbs 2:1–2:5
Today’s story
Sarai’s impatience produces conflict through Hagar, but God still sees the afflicted and keeps his covenant with Abram. Later he renews his promise and announces that Sarah will bear the son of promise despite her barrenness and age.
Jesus warns against using worship, generosity, prayer, and fasting to impress people. He teaches his disciples to seek the Father, treasure heaven, and serve God rather than money.
David asks God to judge him according to truth and to rescue him from violent enemies. God is both righteous judge and shield for the upright.
Proverbs urges the pursuit of wisdom like hidden treasure. The one who seeks with humility finds the knowledge of God.
The story in children’s words
Abram and Sarai waited a long time for the baby God promised. Sarai gave her servant Hagar to Abram, and Hagar had a son named Ishmael. But God said His promise would come through Sarai's own son. God changed their names to Abraham and Sarah. Three special visitors came, and Sarah laughed because she was very old. God said nothing is too hard for Him. Jesus taught us to pray to God as our Father and to trust Him for what we need. The same God who keeps impossible promises sent Jesus to us.
It points to Jesus
Jesus reveals the Father we are taught to pray to, and he is the promised Son through whom God’s covenant with Abraham reaches fulfillment. In Christ, what seems impossible becomes certain by grace.
