It All Points to Jesus

Day 168 · June 17

A devotional for today

Today’s readings

Old Testament

Elijah confronts Ahab and the prophets of Baal. On Mount Carmel the living God answers with fire, exposing powerless idols and calling His people back.

New Testament

Peter explains that God has granted Gentiles repentance leading to life. The church in Antioch grows, and believers are first called Christians there.

Psalm

God alone is worthy of praise; idols have mouths and eyes but no life.

Proverb

Foolish conflict is dangerous. Wisdom knows when to stop a quarrel.

Discover

The God who answers Elijah is the God who raised Jesus. The church does not carry a dead religion but the good news of the living Lord.

Reflect

What idol competes most often for my trust?

Fellowship

Share one place in today’s reading where you saw Jesus more clearly. Then discuss the reflection question together.

Prayer

Lord Jesus, keep my eyes on You and shape my life by Your Word. Holy Spirit, give me grace to trust, obey, and follow You today. Amen.

Live

Name one idol and deliberately give that area back to God. Lord Jesus, help me not only to know Your Word but to live it. Transform my heart so that my life reflects You more each day.
