It All Points to Jesus

Day 263 · September 20

A devotional for today

Today’s readings

Old Testament

Assyria threatens and boasts, but Isaiah points beyond fear to God's justice, beauty, and coming salvation. Human intimidation is loud; God's rule is greater.

New Testament

Freedom in Christ is not permission for selfishness. Walk by the Spirit, love one another, and let His fruit replace the works of the flesh.

Psalm

God sees hidden schemes and can overturn what people think is secure.

Proverb

Buy truth, wisdom, instruction, and understanding; do not trade them away.

Discover

Jesus frees us not merely from guilt but for a new kind of life. The Spirit forms Christlike fruit in people who could never manufacture holiness by willpower alone.

Reflect

Which fruit of the Spirit most needs room to grow in me?

Fellowship

How can freedom become loving service instead of self-indulgence?

Prayer

Holy Spirit, form the character of Jesus in me and teach me to serve in love. Amen.

Live

Choose one fruit of the Spirit and practice it deliberately in your next conversation.
