Day 271 · September 28
A devotional for today
Today’s readings
- Old Testament: ISAIAH 54:1-57:14
- New Testament: EPHESIANS 6:1-24
- Psalm: PSALM 70:1-5
- Proverb: PROVERBS 24:8
Old Testament
After the suffering Servant comes restoration: covenant peace, an open invitation to receive God's gifts freely, and a call for His people to return from idolatry.
New Testament
Paul brings the gospel into home and work, then describes the armor of God. The battle is spiritual, and believers stand in
God's strength.
Psalm
The psalmist urgently asks God for help and refuses to pretend he is self-sufficient.
Proverb
Persistent scheming toward evil earns a fitting reputation.
Discover
The Servant's suffering opens the way for covenant peace. Jesus also equips His people to stand - not in personal toughness but in truth, righteousness, faith, salvation, God's Word, and prayer.
Reflect
Where am I trying to fight a spiritual battle with merely human strength?
Fellowship
Which piece of God's armor do you most need to remember this week?
Prayer
Lord Jesus, clothe me with what You provide and teach me to stand firm in Your strength. Amen.
Live
Before facing today's pressure, pray through the armor of God.
