The story in children’s words

Gideon had a big army, but God said it was too many men. God wanted Israel to know that He Himself had saved them, not their own strength. So Gideon kept only three hundred men, carrying trumpets, empty jars, and torches. At night they blew their trumpets and broke their jars, and the huge enemy army panicked and ran away in the dark. God won the battle with just a little army! Then Pilate said Jesus had done nothing wrong, but the crowd shouted for a prisoner named Barabbas to go free instead. Jesus was nailed to a cross between two criminals. He prayed, "Father, forgive them, for they don't know what they are doing." One of the criminals beside Him believed in Him, and Jesus said, "Today you will be with me in Paradise." Jesus died on that cross to forgive our sins, even the sins of the people who hurt Him.
