The story in children’s words

After Gideon died, the people soon forgot God again. Gideon's son Abimelech did a very wicked thing. He killed his own brothers so that he alone could rule over the people. Only the youngest brother, Jotham, escaped, and he warned them that such evil would bring trouble. Then, as Jesus hung on the cross, darkness covered the whole land. Jesus cried out with a loud voice, "Father, into your hands I commit my spirit," and He breathed His last. A good man named Joseph laid Jesus' body in a new tomb cut in the rock. But on the first day of the week, the women came to the tomb and found the stone rolled away. Two men in shining clothes said, "Why do you seek the living among the dead? He isn't here. He is risen!" Jesus is alive, and death could not hold Him.
