Day 155 · June 2
Kids Corner — Day 155
2 Samuel 22:1–23:23 · Acts 2:1–47 · Psalm 122:1–9 · Proverbs 16:19–20
Today’s story
David sings that the LORD is his rock, rescuer, and refuge. His mighty men display courage and loyalty, but David’s song reaches beyond human strength to the God who saves.
At Pentecost the Holy Spirit fills the believers. Peter proclaims the crucified and risen Jesus, thousands respond, and a new Spirit-filled community is born.
God’s people rejoice at the call to worship and pray for the peace of Jerusalem.
Humility and reverence are better than pride and self-exaltation.
The story in children’s words
David sang a great song to God. He called God his rock, his fortress, and his shield, because God had saved him from all his enemies. David also spoke of brave men who stood and fought when others ran away. Three of them risked their lives to bring David water from Bethlehem, but David poured it out for God instead of drinking it. David said God had made a promise with him that would last forever. Many years later, on the day of Pentecost, God's Holy Spirit came with a sound like a rushing wind and tongues like fire. Jesus' friends spoke in languages from many lands about the mighty works of God. Peter told the crowds that God had raised Jesus from the dead and made Him Lord and Christ. About three thousand people believed, were baptized, and shared what they had with glad hearts. Jesus, David's greater Son, had sent His Spirit, just as He promised.
It points to Jesus
Pentecost fulfills Jesus’ promise: He does not leave His followers powerless. The risen King pours out the Holy Spirit so ordinary people can proclaim Him.
Talk about it
Share one place in today’s reading where you saw Jesus more clearly. Then discuss the reflection question together.
