Day 156 · June 3
Kids Corner — Day 156
2 Samuel 23:24–24:25 · Acts 3:1–26 · Psalm 123:1–4 · Proverbs 16:21–23
Today’s story
David’s final warriors are named, then his sinful census brings judgment. At the threshing floor, sacrifice stops the plague - an unmistakable reminder that sin is costly and atonement requires a substitute.
Peter heals a man unable to walk, but refuses the glory. He points everyone to Jesus - the Author of life whom God raised from the dead.
We lift our eyes to the Lord and wait for His mercy.
Wise speech can be sweet and healing; words reveal what is in the heart.
The story in children’s words
David sinned by counting his fighting men, because he wanted to trust in their numbers. A sickness spread through the land, and many people died. David begged God, "Let your hand be against me, not against these sheep." God stopped the angel at the threshing floor of a man named Araunah. David bought the floor, built an altar, and offered gifts to God, and the sickness stopped. In Jesus' day, Peter and John met a man at the temple gate who had never walked. Peter said, "I have no silver or gold, but in the name of Jesus Christ, get up and walk!" The man leaped up, walking and praising God. Peter told the amazed crowd that faith in Jesus had made the man strong. He called everyone to turn from their sins, because through Abraham's family all the families of the earth would be blessed. That blessing is Jesus Himself.
It points to Jesus
The sacrifice that stopped judgment in David’s day points toward Christ, while Acts shows that healing and forgiveness are proclaimed in His name.
Talk about it
Share one place in today’s reading where you saw Jesus more clearly. Then discuss the reflection question together.
