Day 167 · June 14
Kids Corner — Day 167
1 Kings 15:25–17:24 · Acts 10:24–48 · Psalm 134:1–3 · Proverbs 17:9–11
Today’s story
Israel’s kings continue their downward path, but Elijah appears and announces drought. God feeds His prophet, provides for a widow, and restores her son to life.
Peter proclaims Jesus as Lord of all. While he speaks, the Holy Spirit falls on Gentiles, proving that God welcomes all who trust Christ.
A short call for God’s servants to bless the LORD.
God weighs hearts and relationships. The call is to integrity, not religious appearance.
The story in children’s words
In Israel, kings rose and fell quickly, and each one walked in Jeroboam's sins. Baasha's house was swept away, Zimri reigned only seven days and burned the palace over himself, and Omri built the city of Samaria. His son Ahab did more evil than all before him and married Jezebel. Then the prophet Elijah stood before Ahab and said there would be no rain except at his word. God hid Elijah by a brook, where ravens brought him bread and meat morning and evening. When the brook dried up, God sent him to a widow in Zarephath. She had only a handful of flour and a little oil, but she obeyed, and her jars never ran empty all the hungry days. When her son died, Elijah prayed over him three times, and the boy's life came back, and his mother said, "Now I know you are a man of God." In Caesarea, Peter entered Cornelius's house, where family and friends were gathered. Peter said, "God doesn't show favoritism. Jesus is Lord of all." While he was still speaking, the Holy Spirit fell on all who heard, and they were baptized. Jesus is Lord of every nation, and He welcomes all who believe in Him.
It points to Jesus
Elijah raises a widow’s son, anticipating the life-giving power seen fully in Jesus. Acts announces Him as Lord of all and welcomes Gentiles by the Spirit.
Talk about it
Share one place in today’s reading where you saw Jesus more clearly. Then discuss the reflection question together.
