Today’s story

Hezekiah becomes ill, prays, and receives mercy, yet later proudly displays his treasures. Manasseh leads Judah into terrible evil, but young Josiah begins differently: he does what is right before the LORD.

Paul reports what God has done among the Gentiles and then faces violent opposition in Jerusalem. Even in chaos, the gospel has carried him exactly where Christ said it would.

The Psalter ends where worship belongs: everything that has breath is called to praise the LORD.

Laziness destroys alongside deliberate wrongdoing. Faithfulness honors God in ordinary work.

The story in children’s words

King Hezekiah became sick and was dying, but he prayed and wept before God. God heard his prayer, saw his tears, and gave him fifteen more years, making the shadow on the steps go backward as a sign. Sadly, Hezekiah showed all his treasures to visitors from Babylon, and God said those treasures would one day be carried away there. After Hezekiah died, his son Manasseh did much evil, and then Amon did evil too. But Amon's young son Josiah became king at eight years old, and he did what was right. In Jerusalem, Paul told how God had worked among the nations, but an angry crowd seized Paul in the temple and beat him until soldiers rescued him. Through it all, God's name is a strong tower, and Jesus is the Lord Paul kept serving.

It points to Jesus

June closes with praise. Kings show why we cannot save ourselves; Acts shows the risen Jesus sending His witnesses. The story ends this month where every story should end - with God receiving the glory.
