Day 185 · July 2
Kids Corner — Day 185
2 Kings 23:31–25:30 · Acts 22:17–23:10 · Psalm 2:1–12 · Proverbs 18:13
Today’s story
Judah’s decline reaches Jerusalem’s destruction and exile. Persistent rebellion finally brings the consequences God had warned about.
Paul remains faithful under pressure. He uses his rights wisely while refusing to deny the truth about Jesus.
God’s Son is the true King; rebellion against Him cannot finally succeed.
Listen before answering; quick words often miss the truth.
The story in children’s words
After good King Josiah, the kings who followed did evil in God's sight. The king of Babylon came, took the treasures from God's house, and carried the people away from their land. At last Jerusalem's walls were broken down and God's house was burned, just as God had warned. Yet years later, a new king of Babylon let King Jehoiachin out of prison, spoke kindly to him, and gave him a place at his table. Paul stood before the council in Jerusalem and spoke about the hope of the dead rising again, and the leaders argued among themselves. The psalm for today says God has set His King on His hill and calls Him His Son. That King is Jesus, and blessed are all who take refuge in Him.
It points to Jesus
Earthly kingdoms rise and fall, but Psalm 2 points beyond them to God’s anointed King. Jesus is the King no empire can overthrow.
