Day 186 · July 3
Kids Corner — Day 186
1 Chronicles 1:1–2:17 · Acts 23:11–35 · Psalm 3:1–8 · Proverbs 18:14–15
Today’s story
Chronicles opens with generations of names, tracing God’s faithfulness through real families and history toward Israel’s royal line.
The Lord assures Paul that he will testify in Rome. A murderous plot cannot cancel God’s purpose.
David sleeps surrounded by enemies because the Lord sustains him.
A strong spirit and a teachable mind help us endure.
The story in children’s words
This part of the Bible lists God's people family by family, all the way from Adam through Noah and Abraham. It names Abraham's sons, Isaac's sons, and Jacob's twelve sons, the fathers of Israel. The list follows Judah's family down through Boaz and Jesse to David, the seventh son, who would become king. God was keeping the family story moving, one father and son at a time. In Paul's day, more than forty men made a secret plan to kill him, but Paul's nephew heard of it and told the commander. Soldiers took Paul safely by night to the governor, just after the Lord Jesus had stood by Paul and told him he would speak for Him in Rome too.
It points to Jesus
Genealogies remind us that God works across generations. The line ultimately moves toward Jesus, and Acts shows that His mission cannot be stopped.
