Day 187 · July 4
Kids Corner — Day 187
1 Chronicles 2:18–4:4 · Acts 24:1–27 · Psalm 4:1–8 · Proverbs 18:16–18
Today’s story
The family records continue, preserving the line, identity, and memory of God’s people.
Paul stands before Felix and explains that his hope rests in God’s promises and the resurrection.
God gives peace and security that circumstances cannot manufacture.
Gifts may open doors, but justice and truth still matter.
The story in children’s words
More family names fill this reading, family after family in Israel. It names King David's sons who were born in Hebron and in Jerusalem. From David came Solomon, and then king after king, down to the days when God's people were carried away. Even in a long list of names, God had not forgotten His people or His promise. Paul stood before Governor Felix and said he had done nothing wrong, and that he believed the dead would rise again. Felix listened to Paul speak about faith in Christ Jesus, and about doing right and the judgment to come, and Felix was afraid. Paul stayed in prison two years, but Jesus was still the hope he kept telling everyone about.
It points to Jesus
Paul’s hope is resurrection hope. Our faith is not merely ancestry, tradition, or history; it rests on the risen Jesus.
Talk about it
What difference does the resurrection make when life feels uncertain?
