Day 189 · July 6
Kids Corner — Day 189
1 Chronicles 5:18–6:81 · Acts 26:1–32 · Psalm 6:1–10 · Proverbs 18:20–21
Today’s story
Warriors cry out to God in battle, while the Levites are set apart for worship and service. Strength and worship both belong under God.
Paul tells Agrippa how the risen Jesus changed his life and commissioned him to open eyes and turn people from darkness to light.
David cries for mercy in weakness and trusts God to hear.
Our words bear fruit; speech can nourish or wound.
The story in children’s words
God's people cried to Him in a battle, and He helped them because they trusted Him. But later some tribes turned to false gods, and God let enemies carry them away from their land. This reading also names Levi's family — the priests who served in God's house and the singers who led the songs there. Before King Agrippa, Paul told his whole story: the bright light, the voice of Jesus, and the call to open people's eyes and turn them from darkness to light. Paul said he only taught what the prophets had said — that Christ must suffer and rise from the dead first. Agrippa said Paul almost persuaded him, and Paul wished everyone who heard him would trust in Jesus too.
It points to Jesus
Paul’s testimony has one center: Jesus met him. The gospel turns people from darkness to light and from the power of sin toward God.
