Day 198 · July 15
Kids Corner — Day 198
1 Chronicles 24:1–26:11 · Romans 4:1–12 · Psalm 13:1–6 · Proverbs 19:15–16
Today’s story
Priests, musicians, and gatekeepers are organized for worship. Many different assignments serve one purpose: honoring God.
Abraham is Paul’s example that righteousness is credited through faith, not earned by works.
David asks how long, yet ends by trusting God’s unfailing love.
Laziness leads toward need; wisdom receives correction.
The story in children’s words
David set the priests and the singers in their turns for serving in God's house. Lots were cast fairly, small and great alike, and 288 skilled singers were counted to praise the LORD with harps and cymbals. Gatekeepers were chosen too, to guard the doors of God's house. Everyone had a place and a job in God's service. Paul wrote about Abraham, who lived long before David. Abraham was not counted right with God because of his works, but because he believed God. Paul also shared David's happy words: "Blessed are they whose sins are forgiven and covered." That same blessing is for everyone who believes in Jesus, just as Abraham believed God.
It points to Jesus
God’s people serve in many roles, but salvation has one foundation: faith. Abraham believed God; we trust the God who fulfills His promise in Jesus.
