2 Chronicles 4:1–6:11 · Romans 7:1–13 · Psalm 17:1–15 · Proverbs 19:22–23
Today’s story
The Temple is furnished, the ark enters, and God’s glory fills the house. Worship reaches its center: God among His people.
Paul describes the law’s good purpose while exposing how sin twists even good commands.
David asks God to hear his righteous plea and guard him.
Loyal love and reverence for God are better than empty desire.
The story in children’s words
Solomon's workers made the beautiful things for God's house: a great bronze sea standing on twelve oxen, ten golden lamp stands, tables, basins, and doors of gold. When all the work was finished, the priests carried God's ark into the most holy place, under the wings of the golden cherubim. There was nothing in the ark but the two stone tablets Moses had put there. Then the singers sang together, the house filled with God's glory cloud, and Solomon told the people that God had kept His promise to David. Paul wrote that God's law is holy and good, because it shows us our sin, like a light showing dirt. The law shows our need, and Jesus is the Savior the law points us to.
It points to Jesus
The glory-filled Temple reveals humanity’s deepest longing: God with us. Jesus fulfills that longing and frees us from sin’s mastery.
Talk about it
How can God’s holiness deepen rather than weaken our joy?
