Day 203 · July 20
Kids Corner — Day 203
2 Chronicles 6:12–8:10 · Romans 7:14–8:8 · Psalm 18:1–15 · Proverbs 19:24–25
Today’s story
Solomon dedicates the Temple, fire falls, and God’s glory fills it. God promises to hear humble, repentant people.
Paul cries over the conflict within himself, then announces the answer: Jesus Christ. Romans 8 opens with no condemnation for those in Christ.
God is the rock, fortress, and rescuer.
Correction can awaken wisdom; laziness wastes opportunity.
The story in children’s words
King Solomon knelt on a platform before all the people, spread out his hands to heaven, and prayed. He asked God to hear everyone who would pray toward His house — the sorry, the hungry, the sick, and even people from far away lands. Then fire came down from heaven on the offerings, and God's glory filled the house, and the people bowed and worshiped. After the feast, God told Solomon He had heard his prayer, but warned the people to stay faithful. Paul wrote honestly that we often do the wrong we do not want to do, and asked, "Who will deliver me?" Then he gave thanks to God through Jesus Christ. For those in Christ Jesus there is no condemnation, because God's Spirit sets us free.
It points to Jesus
“Who will rescue me?” Paul asks. The answer is Jesus. Religion can name the problem; Christ delivers the sinner and removes condemnation.
