Today’s story
Solomon’s wealth and fame grow, but after his reign the kingdom begins to fracture under Rehoboam’s pride.
The Spirit gives life, confirms our adoption, and teaches us to wait with hope for the redemption God will complete.
God reaches down and rescues David from overwhelming waters.
Dishonoring parents brings shame and destruction.
The story in children’s words
The queen of Sheba came from far away to test Solomon with hard questions, and she saw his wisdom and the house he had built. She said, "Half of it was not told me!" and she praised God for loving Israel. After Solomon died, his son Rehoboam listened to harsh advice instead of kind advice, and the kingdom split in two. Ten tribes went their own way, and only Judah and Benjamin stayed with David's family. Paul wrote that God's Spirit lives in His people and calls us His children, so we cry, "Abba! Father!" Even when this world groans and we suffer, we wait with hope for the glory God will show. That hope is sure because Jesus rose from the dead and God's Spirit lives in us.
It points to Jesus
Earthly glory fades. Solomon’s kingdom divides. But those in Christ receive a Kingdom inheritance as God’s adopted children.
