Kids Corner — Day 207
2 Chronicles 17:1–18:34 · Romans 9:25–10:13 · Psalm 20:1–9 · Proverbs 20:2–3
Today’s story
Jehoshaphat seeks God and strengthens Judah, but his alliance with Ahab nearly costs him his life.
Paul emphasizes that righteousness comes by faith and that everyone who calls on the Lord will be saved.
The people pray for God to help and protect the king.
Anger in authority is dangerous; quarrels should not be fed.
The story in children’s words
Good King Jehoshaphat sent teachers and Levites with the book of God's law to teach in every city of Judah. God was with him, and the lands around were afraid to fight him. Later Jehoshaphat joined King Ahab in battle, and 400 prophets promised victory, but one brave prophet, Micaiah, told God's true word: Ahab would not come back. Ahab went anyway, dressed to hide who he was, and he was struck and died, just as God had said. Jehoshaphat cried out to God, and God helped him come home safe. Paul wrote the simple way to be saved: "If you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved." Whoever calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.
It points to Jesus
Jehoshaphat’s alliances blur wisdom, but Romans makes the saving allegiance clear: confess Jesus as Lord and believe God raised Him from the dead.
Talk about it
What makes the invitation “everyone who calls on the Lord” such good news?
