The story in children’s words
By the river, Ezra called the people to fast and humble themselves and ask God for a safe journey. He did not want to ask the king for soldiers, because he had said God's hand protects those who seek Him. God heard them, and He kept them and all their little ones safe all the way to Jerusalem. But then Ezra heard that God's people had disobeyed God by joining with the peoples who did evil. Ezra tore his clothes, fell on his knees, and prayed with great shame, saying God had punished them less than they deserved. Paul wrote that a little yeast spreads through all the dough, so sin must be put away from God's people. He called Jesus "Christ, our Passover," who was sacrificed for us. Jesus is the Passover Lamb who makes His people clean and sincere.
