The story in children’s words

Nehemiah did not take the governor's pay for twelve years, because the people were already carrying a heavy load. Enemies tried to trick him into meeting them and tried to scare him with lies, but Nehemiah said, "I am doing a great work, so I cannot come down." The wall was finished in only fifty-two days, and even the enemies knew this work was done by God. Then Nehemiah set guards at the gates and found the old list of families who had come home from Babylon. Paul wrote that knowledge can make people proud, but love builds people up. He said there is only one God, and one Lord, Jesus Christ, through whom all things came. Paul said he would not eat food if it made a weaker brother stumble, because Christ died for that brother. Jesus is the one Lord, and love for others matters more than our own freedom.
