The story in children’s words
Now the leaders lived in Jerusalem, and the people cast lots so that one out of every ten families would live in the holy city too. The people blessed all who willingly offered to live there. Long lists name the priests, Levites, singers, and gatekeepers who served in God's house, family by family. The psalm says, "Come, you children, listen to me; I will teach you the fear of the LORD," and it promises God is near to the brokenhearted. Paul told God's people to run away from idols. He said the cup we bless is a sharing in the blood of Christ, and the bread we break is a sharing in the body of Christ. Because there is one loaf, we who are many are one body in Jesus.
