The story in children’s words
When Mordecai heard Haman's evil order, he tore his clothes and cried aloud, and Jews everywhere mourned and fasted. Mordecai sent word to Esther: "Who knows if you have come to the kingdom for such a time as this?" Esther asked all the Jews to fast for three days, and said, "I will go to the king, and if I perish, I perish." The king held out his golden scepter to her, and Esther invited him and Haman to a feast. That night the king could not sleep, and he heard how Mordecai had saved his life and never been thanked. Haman had to lead Mordecai through the city in royal clothes, calling out the king's honor. At the second feast Esther begged for her life and her people's lives, and pointed to wicked Haman. The king ordered Haman to be hanged on the very gallows he had built for Mordecai. Paul wrote that God's people are like one body with many parts, and no one can say, "Jesus is Lord," except by the Holy Spirit. In Christ's body every part is needed, and when one part suffers, all suffer with it.
