The story in children’s words
Job told how men dig deep mines for silver and gold and bring hidden things to light. "But where will wisdom be found?" he asked. Wisdom cannot be bought with gold or jewels, for the deep and the sea do not have it. God alone understands its way and knows its place. God said to man, "The fear of the Lord — that is wisdom; to turn away from evil is understanding." Then Job remembered his happy days, when he helped the poor who cried, was eyes to the blind and feet to the lame, and made the widow's heart sing. Now young men mocked him, terrors had turned on him, and he cried to God without an answer. The psalm says, "As the deer pants for water, so my soul pants for You, God," and it tells the sad soul, "Hope in God, for I will still praise Him." Paul thanked God, who leads us in triumph in Christ and spreads His sweet smell through us. Jesus is God's wisdom, and hoping in Him gives a thirsty soul strength to praise again.
