Day 246 · September 1
Kids Corner — Day 246
Ecclesiastes 4:1–6:12 · 2 Corinthians 6:14–7:7 · Psalm 47:1–9 · Proverbs 22:16
Today’s story
Life under the sun is marked by oppression, envy, loneliness, and the limits of wealth. Companionship is a gift, and possessions cannot satisfy the soul.
Paul calls believers away from compromise and toward holiness. Because God welcomes His people as sons and daughters, they are to cleanse what defiles and live with open hearts.
God is the great King over all the earth. His rule reaches farther than any human kingdom.
Do not exploit the poor. God sees the vulnerable and cares how they are treated.
The story in children’s words
The wise king saw people being hurt with no one to comfort them. He said two people are better than one, because one can help the other up when he falls. A cord of three strands is not quickly broken. He also warned us to keep our promises to God and not love money, because riches never fill us up. Paul told God's people not to be tied together with those who do not believe, because light has nothing in common with darkness. He said we are the house of the living God, and God will be our Father. God comforted Paul when Titus came with good news. Jesus is the Light, and those who follow Him walk with God as His children.
It points to Jesus
Ecclesiastes exposes how empty life becomes when work, money, or status must carry the weight of our hope. Jesus gives us something better: reconciliation with God, a new family, and a Kingdom that lasts.
Talk about it
Where have you learned that people and possessions cannot replace God?
