Day 248 · September 3
Kids Corner — Day 248
Ecclesiastes 10:1–12:14 · 2 Corinthians 8:1–15 · Psalm 49:1–20 · Proverbs 22:20–21
Today’s story
Ecclesiastes closes by urging us to remember our Creator before life passes. The final word is simple: fear God and obey Him.
Paul points to generous believers and then to Jesus, who became poor for our sake. Grace received becomes generosity given.
Wealth cannot ransom a life from death. Rich and poor alike need a rescue money cannot buy.
Store truth in your heart so you can speak dependable words.
The story in children’s words
The wise king warned that a little foolishness can spoil something good, like dead flies in sweet oil. He told young people to remember their Creator while they are young, before old age comes. At the end he said the whole duty of people is to fear God and keep His commands, because God will judge every work, even hidden things. Paul praised some poor believers who gave with great joy to help others. He reminded them that Jesus was rich, but He became poor for our sakes, so that through His poverty we might become rich. The psalm says riches cannot buy back a life, but God will receive His own. Jesus gave up His riches for us, and He is worth more than all the money in the world.
It points to Jesus
Ecclesiastes asks what finally matters. Paul answers by pointing to Christ. Jesus gave Himself for us, and His gift frees us to live generously rather than clutching what cannot save.
Talk about it
How does the generosity of Jesus reshape our use of money, time, and ability?
