Day 250 · September 5
Kids Corner — Day 250
Song 5:1–8:14 · 2 Corinthians 9:1–15 · Psalm 51:1–19 · Proverbs 22:24–25
Today’s story
Love is precious and worth pursuing with patience and faithfulness. The poem celebrates delight without treating love casually.
Paul teaches cheerful generosity. God supplies what His people need so that grace can overflow into thanksgiving and good works.
David's confession after sin is one of Scripture's clearest prayers for mercy, cleansing, and a renewed heart.
Close friendship with uncontrolled anger can teach us destructive ways.
The story in children’s words
The bride heard her beloved knocking, but she was slow to open the door. When she rose, he was gone, and she searched for him through the city. She told her friends he was altogether lovely, the best among ten thousand. Then she found him in his garden, and they said, "I am my beloved's, and my beloved is mine." The song says love is strong as death, and many waters cannot wash it away. David prayed in his psalm, "Have mercy on me, God. Wash me, and I will be whiter than snow. Create in me a clean heart." Paul said God loves a cheerful giver, and he thanked God for His gift too wonderful for words. That gift is Jesus, whose love is strong and who washes our hearts clean.
It points to Jesus
Psalm 51 brings us to the heart of the gospel: we need more than improved behavior; we need cleansing and a new heart. Jesus provides the forgiveness David longed for.
