Today’s story

Judah's pride, injustice, and self-indulgence bring ruin. The vineyard God carefully tended produces rotten fruit instead of righteousness.

Paul warns the church about false apostles and a counterfeit message. Devotion to Christ must not be traded for something that merely sounds spiritual.

Humanity's corruption is widespread; we need God to bring salvation.

Respect rightful boundaries, and remember that skillful work opens doors for service.

The story in children’s words

God warned Jerusalem that trouble was coming because the people did evil and their leaders crushed the poor. Proud women would lose their fine clothes and jewels, and the city would sit in sorrow. But God also promised a beautiful Branch, and He would wash His people clean and shelter them with cloud by day and fire by night. Then God sang a song about His vineyard: He planted good vines and cared for them, but they gave only wild, sour grapes. He looked for justice, but found people crying in pain. Paul warned the believers not to be tricked, the way the snake tricked Eve, by people who pretend to serve Christ. He had preached God's good news to them for free, because he loved them. Jesus is God's beautiful Branch, and He makes His people clean and fruitful for God.

It points to Jesus

Isaiah's vineyard fails to produce good fruit, and Paul warns against a false Jesus. We need the true Savior, not religious imitation. Christ alone can make His people fruitful.

Talk about it

How can we recognize teaching that sounds spiritual but pulls us away from Christ?
