Day 253 · September 8
Kids Corner — Day 253
Isaiah 6:1–7:25 · 2 Corinthians 11:16–33 · Psalm 54:1–7 · Proverbs 23:1–3
Today’s story
Isaiah sees the LORD high and holy, confesses his uncleanness, receives cleansing, and is sent. Then God gives the sign of Immanuel: God with us.
Paul's 'boasting' becomes a list of suffering and weakness. True ministry is not measured by comfort or image but by faithfulness.
David calls on God when enemies surround him and trusts the Lord as his helper.
Self-control matters even at a ruler's table; appetite can quietly master us.
The story in children’s words
Isaiah saw the Lord sitting on a high throne, and angels with six wings called out, "Holy, holy, holy is the LORD!" Isaiah cried, "I am a man of unclean lips!" Then an angel touched his lips with a hot coal, and his sin was taken away. God asked, "Whom shall I send?" and Isaiah said, "Here I am. Send me!" Later, King Ahaz was afraid of enemy kings, but God told him not to fear. God gave a sign: a virgin would have a son, and His name would be Immanuel, which means God with us. Paul told of all his sufferings for Christ: beatings, shipwrecks, hunger, and escaping in a basket through a window. Immanuel is Jesus — God with us — and Paul was glad to suffer to tell people about Him.
It points to Jesus
Isaiah's vision exposes our sin, but cleansing comes from God. The promise of Immanuel moves the story toward Jesus - God with us - who makes unclean people fit for God's presence.
Talk about it
What does Paul's weakness teach us about the difference between appearance and faithfulness?
